I resently bought a Vist 248 with a 5.7 GL with F5 Dou Props. The props were damaged when I go it so I spent 350 bucks on geting them repaired to new condition. The problem I have is I am only reaching about 4200 rpm at WOT with a full load. That is full of fuel, 3 adults, 3 children, 5 batterys (not sure why so many yet), and a nice chunk of lead on the starboard side to compensate for the weight of all the darn batterys. Is the weight of my boat just dragging me down? I was considering going to an F4 or F3. Also maybe removing some of those batterys.

What pitch props do you guys have on your 248s?

Thanks! Loving this boat so far!!

Maybe off topic but have you considered just moving 2 batteries to the starboard side? Extending the cabling is easy and will reduce your weight. 5 Batteries on a 248 seems more than necessary. Do you spend a lot of time anchored up without shore power?

I had a 258 and moved from a F4 to an F3 to get better hole shot. My kids were wakeboarding behind our boat and I traded off top speed for quicker planing. Your problem may be moving to an F5 may affect your ability to jump on plane at the same rate you currently do. Do you have tabs to help?

Welcome to the forum.

I have considered moving batterys arund to get rid of the lead counter ballance. I have only had the boat for two weeks so I have not had much time to set it up like I'd like. I'd like to try an F4 or F3. The F5 takes a while to plane and only gives about 38mph at WOT 4200 RPM. I'm not looking to go fast mainly just cruise and want to take some of the load off the engine.

I'm considering maybe trying to see how long I could run my air off an inverter since I have all the darn batterys. Either that or the Honda route...

F4's on my 248. WOT is about 4500 rpm's. 5 batteries? What are powering, a small island? I cruise between 3600-3800 rpm's at about 27 mph. I'm in salt water so it's a bit more dnse to push through.

Thanks for the responce. Great to hear what someone else is running. I squeezed about 4400 out of it this weekend with a few less people. I realy think F4 will put me were I need to be. I'm hoping I can find someone who needs some F5s that I can trade with.
