Don't think I want to own a Sea Rat. I may end up eating those words, but for now I will stay away. Going to set up time to look at the Regal, but also need to be patient. I have a lot of time to find what will be perfect for y family of four! I don't want to trade up again for a loooong time! I do think the suggestion of going bigger, will be the right choice. It seems like there are a whole lot more 26 ft range pocket cruisers than 24's.

Hey hutch, what is your limit on distance for buying? I know of a couple 268 Vistas up my way (Buffalo area), and I know there are some in the Pittsburgh area too.

Fire, that is a beautiful boat! Love the color and pretty much everything about it but the price. Is he trying to make a profit after a season?? I know this one is in exceptional condition, but have seen several others on boat trader for much less.

Niagra, I am willing to go about 200 miles for the right deal.

I know..... A bit late to this thread. IMHO a 1/2 ton is way too small for towing....anything! Yes we have tried to tow our 248 to the gas station with the Tahoe. I have used the Tahoe for towing upto 4500 lbs, and I personally dont like it too much, feels very overloaded.
We use a F350 turbo diesel for towing the boat or 5th wheel. I would recommend at least a 3/4 ton for towing a RV of and size and weight, not just for safety reasons, but for comfort reasons. It is peace of mind knowing the tow vehicle can Handle the load in an panic situation. But I also tow here in the Rocky Mountains and have a different opinion vs flat land RV'ers.

Kinda wish we were closer to you, ready to let my boat go....

After finally getting to see some of the sizes of boats we would consider, I rate them as follows:

1. FW Vista
2. Monterey
3. Rinker

Wish I was able to see Chaparral at the show, but I didnt see them. I did look at Regal, and I did not really care for the layout on them. We are still thinking of the 24ft range, but that is only because there were none in that size at the show. Most of what we saw were 26+.

That 248 looks decent. 5.0L is adequate for that boat.

For the price on this Monty, the average size mid-cabin might be worth the sacrifice.
Most of the bells and whistles, and with the 5.7L, this boat should get up and go !

Cap'n- I did not see the price on this one. I must have missed it. I did a search for these a couple of nights ago and did not see this one. This would be really nice, if it includes the camper canvas.

Any opinions on the need for AC on a cruiser of this size?

This 250CR I posted does have AC.


The add does not mention camper canvas, which is odd. Most express cruisers include that. May want to confirm with seller, as sometimes boat adds are not as complete as they should be.
