Got my stock speakers replaced in the 318 today.

Yes - they fit the arch!

Definitely an improvement in sound quality.... even the wife likes them more than she thought she would. She wasn't a fan of the silver grill - but she said she likes it. And, she noticed a difference in sound. "How much did those cost? -- only 50 bucks a pair". I earned points for that!

If you have the clarions that have the wizzer-cone tweeter -- then ABSOLUTELY this are better. If you have the upgraded clarions -- then you probably won't see a difference at low volume, but you would see an improvement at higher volumes.

I did a side by side with the Sony's while replacing them and was actually surprised that other than being slightly clearer at low volumes, the Polk's did not sound THAT much better. It wasn't until you turned up the volume that the clarity and the tweeter's on the Polk's really came to life.

No, they do not sound as good as the JL's. not even close. Not as clear, not as dynamic, and don't get as loud before distortion. But, $50/pair is alot different than $275-$400/pair.

I am sure the Polk's sound alot better than the Sony 1610's - which are what ships with the non-stereo package upgrade boats from FW. Those things are not very good speakers at all.

Turns out the speaker that I thought was popped is not.. there was a washer that made it's way into the basket and was rattling.

Anyone want to buy 4, white Sony 1620's?
