That was a pretty good article. It is almost the same on gas as my Sundowner! Too bad they are out of business.

Good friends purchased a 2002 Doral 270SC two years ago. They wanted a boat just large enough that it had a dedicated aft cabin and V-berth while still having a small dinette table set up full time. They had one teenage son and they didn't want to make the dinette area up into a bed each night for their son. They also preferred to stay with a single engine boat instead of twins, so the Doral 270SC suited their needs and wants.

I went on their water test with them and found the 270SC to cruise about 25MPH and topped out right at 40 MPH with the single 5.7 litre Volvo duoprop. It handled some chopping water pretty well. They added air condiontioning and a extended swim platform to their 270SC after purchasing it.

Four winns are great boats, but I would explore all boat make and models that offer what is important to you and your family in a boat size and price that you are comfortable with so that once you purchase you remain satisfied and content with your purchase decision for years to come. Boats are expensive in more ways than one. :)

Mike.

Nice find Cap'n! I wish that one had been for sale last year when I was looking. :(

The above 268 is titled 2003 Four Winns 268 Vista at top of ad, but in the ad details at beginning it states 2006 Four Winns 268 Vista.

Really nice if it was a 2006.....

Nice looking boat regardless.

Mike.

If I had that I'd be posting this reply from inside the cabin out on the water somewhere.

Typo. They didn't even make the 268 in 2006.

That color is absolutely perfect!! It looks like a great boat. I am going to have to call and get more details on it. It doesnt say what engine it has, but I would hope at the least the 350.

Is this really a 2006 278? Or like the ad says a 268?

Ask the seller for the Hull ID. That will answer your questions. Many builders have boats still in process during model year switchover, and are titled as a year newer than what the current model is.

A friend has a 2011 204FS Monty, with 2010 dash. Hull I.D. says 2011.

We made the first big step toward owning a larger boat.......bought a tow vehicle. It is a Chevy Suburban 2500 4x4 with the 8.1L V8. Looking forward to hauling something good behind it very soon!!

Good choice. Not too many out there with the 8.1. What year is it?

I got a 99 with a 454....wish I had a newer one but can't find a good one with an 8.1 for a reasonable price.

Mine is a 2002 with about 90,000 miles on it. The last owner just put a new transmission in it and ball joints. It seemed like a good deal to me. With two kids and two dogs, we needed extra cargo space. The more we thought about it, the less a pickup seemed like it would work. It was very difficult to find one. The ones we were able to find, either had a ton of rust or too high mileage (like 200,000+). This one has zero rust on it.
