I have been searching Ebay and Amazon for fenders, and I was wondering what you guys are finding as far as pricing is concerned? I am planning on using at least 8.5" diameter fenders in navy blue. I am looking to buy up to 4 of them. Best price I can find is about $150 but I am not sure of the quality of them.

I did not check for Fender's, but Defender is having their Warehouse sale, everything is on sale.
Might be worth checking. Damn good company for boat stuff.

I'm having trouble finding a better price than the link to Defender right now. Not sure which one's you're looking at on eBAY but the Polyform G5 is an excellent fender and a perfect size for your boat. It also fits perfectly in those fender baskets you were looking at.

We have a pair of black Polyform G5's that are going on their 5th season and still hold air and look good. In 2010 we spent 2 days in sustained broadside gale force winds with just those 2 fenders holding us off the dock and they didn't lose any air or leave a single scuff. I didn't know I needed 2 new ones till I saw that price above...looks like it's time to retire the other two to permanent dock duty

I am considering these. I dont know how good they are, but they seem to be priced well. I didnt know if I should get these or the 10" ones? I know for sure that the holders I was looking at, will probably look strange with a small 8" fender in them. I may have to check into the 7-9" fender holder range.

I don't have any experience or have heard of those fenders but I used a similar looking cheap fender mounted to the dock and it scratched up our hull nicely. The outside of it got hardened in the sun very quickly.

Have you already ordered the baskets? As you seen from my picture on the other post I have the 2 G5's mounted on the front and I've been told by friends that they know it's our boat when they see the big fender's on the front coming at them. I would think 10in fenders might be overkill for sure, and the 2 G5's block as much of my view over the bow as I'm willing to give up...it really took some getting used to when I first mounted them up there. Not sure how the viewing angle over the bow is on the 278 vs 268

PS. Just ordered 2 new G5's from Defender..75.00 shipped!!

Bought two of the G5 and two of the holders for them. At least I know for sure that these will fit and look right too.

I don't have them but others in my marina use Taylor Made. They are lifetime warrantied.
They will probably be my next purchase. BTW I am about an hour from the Defender warehouse. The people are very good there. Shipping is expensive though when I don't feel like making the trek.

I have four of the G5s that came with the boat. They are very nice.
Also have to hand-me-down TaylorMade fenders circa 1986 that I use for dock duty. They still do the job at almost 30 years old, so I guess they are good quality.

We have Dockmate 8.5" Tuff Shield fenders from Overtons, $35ea. Apparently have a lifetime warranty - managed to puncture 1 at the end of last season (was new at the start of the year) and Overtons replaced it with no questions asked. No other problems with that particular fender in several years with 'em prior to that.
