Hi, I was wondering if anyone might be able to help me out on a boat that I am interested in buying. It's a 2007 Four Winns 203 FS, 21' in length, 5.0L Volvo GL-SX 225 HP. It has a extended swim platform on the back, lifetime hull warranty, and is a fish and ski model that comes with a trolling motor. I am mainly looking for a boat to enjoy the lake with the family tubing and skiing. I've tried looking up reviews but have been unlucky. Just wanted some outside input on the boat and what others think. Thanks in advance

Are you sure that isn't a 204 FS? If so, the 5.0L Volvo with 225 h.p. will be a bit underpowered. The same block, 5.0 L, with fuel injection gets you 270 h.p. and that is not overwelming power on that boat. Assuming you do mean a 204 FS.

My 2006 203FS with 5.0L 225HP and volvo i/o will do 55mph, plenty fast, will snap a skier up in a heart beat.

Here are the 2007 fast facts (right click, save as): http://www.fourwinns.com/upload/Documen ... s_2007.pdf

The 5.0GL actually had 220 HP in 2007. According to fast facts, top speed is 45-48 MPH. I think it would be plenty quick for what you want to do with it. What kind of lake do you want to use it on? Would be perfect for an inland lake but I would not recommend it on big lakes that get really rough/choppy.

When looking at a boat, make sure it is in good condition and the maintenance schedule was followed and is up to date. Interior and drivetrain repairs add up really fast.

With that said, I have a preference for fuel injected engines (Gi, GXi, MPI, etc) but realize they are somewhat rare. But if you can find one, I would recommend it.
