We have a 2006 Four Winns Vista 278 with about 45 hours on it. It's got nearly all the extras except for a radar arch with NAV electronics. It's been on an inland lake and wet slipped since we bought it in 2007 off the showroom floor. The bottom is painted and I've not had any issues with it. It's got a Volvo 5.7 GXi with stainless duo-props.

I priced the value on NADA and it ranges from $52K to $59K, however BoatTrader has 11 right now with an average of $67K and a range of $59K to $80K.

I've never sold a boat before, we traded in our Four Winns Funship for this boat and these are the only two I've ever owned. I don't know if I should use a broker or sell it myself. The boat is nearly an hour away so frequent trips out there will not be convenient.

Anyone care to comment on pricing (I know it's difficult without having the all options listed, but the range is $20K!? And I'm interested on input regarding a broker or a private sale.

Thanks

I guess I will jump in first. I think these days most boats are selling below book. You will see that quite a few boats are listed on this site, and have been for a while. It all comes down to finding the right buyer for your boat. I have found so far that some people are trying to steal boats now. They figure sellers are desperate. With that said some boats are selling and selling quickly. In my area the bow riders and smaller cuddies are selling, but the cruisers are taking longer.

Brokers can be a great resource. You just have to figure in their commission. If you use a broker see f you can have it written that if you sell on your own you don’t pay the commission or at least it is reduced.

I hope that didn’t sound too negative.

Best of luck Bill

PM sent. I had a verbal offer accepted on a boat like yours, but I won't put a deposit down until I sell mine. Someone else beat me too it, and I had a great deal on it! I don't want to put pricing in this thread...but we may be interested in your boat if it has AC and a windlass.

Thanks Gordon.

Firecadet and I have talked about boats already, but he is looking at 268 and 278's.

I've setup http://vista278.com for the sale of this boat. I have lots of photos on the site and more to be added. I went through and most of the interior images have people in them so I'm going to have to take new ones.

Myabe it's just my computer but your old versions showed the photos and now I'm just getting the placeholder for the image in both Firefox and IE. Might want to check it out.

There was a problem with the main image, I fixed that. Are you having problems seeing the thumbnails?

I've got it up on Craig's List now, any other suggestions as to where to advertise?

I have heard people have good results with Boat trader and boats.com.
