Looks like our H220 may have a new home... we'll know shortly.

So in the mean time I thought I'd start looking... we have some time before the snow flies so we'll see if the right boat might come along before winter.

We're simply looking for something slightly smaller than our H220... but not a bunch. Ideally an H200 would probably be the best fit... but I'd possbily consider a H210 or H190... MUST be at least an 8 seater... prefer a V8 (but might consider a V6 depending on the boat ---- sorry but no 4cyl please), prefer fuel injection but not an absolute depending on price and the boat must be in nice shape in/out. Prefer no older than 5-7 yrs tops. Let me know what you have... Thanks

A few pics added 1-3-2011 here... PICTURES below of the finalist and I know they're long over due....

Shawk,

Looks like you could possibly be in the market for a 2003 Four Winns H220 with a VP 5.7 Gi - DP. Are you selling your H220 only to get ahold of a smaller boat? Other than the size, it appears that the boat you are looking for is exactly like the one you've already got? Just curious - as I just picked up a new 2008 H210 last month.

I do agree, however, that there is a marked size (weight) difference between the 210 and 220. When we got the 210, we thought about the 220, but was quite a bit heavier than we wanted to tow around. The H210 fits our family of four perfectly - splits the difference between a shorter 190 or 200 and the heavy weight of the 220.

Seems like the big price differences; however, come when you jump from the 18-19' range up to the 20-21' boats. If you are trying to go smaller and save some money at the same time, a simple foot might save thousands of dollars if you can deal with a 190 model. You could probably get a pretty good deal on a new closeout when the winter boat shows arrive shortly.

Hey Scott... I need to simply shed a few pounds for our tow vehicle (as we'll hit the road boating hopefully a bunch next season). I honestly have the boat I want (or I'd even go bigger if I could  ). But from a practical stand point (if there's such a thing with a toy) I need to shed a few pounds and drop a size or two. I have no plans right now to spend any more cash but then again... we all know how that goes. I've got a few boats already in mind but nothing even close to nailed down. I finally put ours on Craigslist and left it for more than a day (indecision to sell)... and it's incredible the amount of interest I have. I guess that's a good thing. :( LOVE your boat btw... 8)

All the best!
Steve

I don't know where you are located and it is not an SS but I have not winterized yet. Maybe in a few weeks. Looks to be might nice next weekend. I have put a few hours on since posting it. I think it is up to 74 now.

Actually I see now you are in Iowa. Where abouts? My dad lives in Muscatine.

I have an old 200 but back then they were actually 20'9" so they were a bit bigger than the later models...which I think were about a foot shorter...yours looks like a beautiful boat, I'd hate to sell that and have to start all over...I'd be more inclined to change the tow vehicle than the boat...in fact I bought a 2 year old Grand Cherokee 5.7 Hemi last summer for about the same price as a good late model Horizon...and it tows like a freight train so that 220 you have would just be fine....

Hey J... California might be more than a days drive. Otherwise I'd take a peak... I'm in Cedar Falls which I believe is less than 2 hours from your dad.

I agree Lou and looked seriously at swapping vehicles... but in the end both my wife and I probably like our vehicles we're driving more than a boat. So the boat will go... then a new boat will come along that we'll come to like nearly as much as our H220. I tried hard to get my wife in a full size SUV but she's just not interested... She needs the 8 seats for my 3 kids and their buddies she hauls around... boat will go and life will go on. 8)

All the best!

Yeah, it is a little more than a day. If it doesn't sell we will be hauling it to Maryland in March. We will be going right through Iowa. Keep it in mind if you don't find a boat by then.

That being said, I do kind of agree with the others. I would find a new tow vehicle. With this boat we picked out the boat first and bought the truck to match.

Well... our H220 is officially sold. Buyers gave me a hold check tonight and will stop back next week to take it home. Sad day to an extent for me but I know this was the right thing to do... though I am thrilled for the new owners... they have a couple young kiddos and were excited to make the purchase. :D Fun to see...

... to bad we're so far away... your boat sounds like the boat I might be looking for.

All the best!

Don't let a days or two's drive stop you... We know that jmeirhofer's boat is immaculate and he has complained little to none about it. Hell he's even willling to drag it close by on his way to Maryland. PM him and strike up a deal. It's the size you want and is a nice looking well kept boat.

BTW, I drove 8 hours to purchase my old 260 Horizon.

Thanks Marc.

Steve you have a PM.

It is a great boat. We have many memories with her and will be sad to let her go. The most memorable trip for me was this one:

http://johnandsandysbigadventure.blogspot.com/2009/08/last-installment-left-off-with-first.html

Daisy suffered a stroke a couple of months later and had to leave us. While she did not go on the boat with us but a few times, the time she spent with us was great.

I don't want to hi-jack Steve's thread so I will leave it at we are moving on to bigger and better things and life itself.

thinking about picking up one of these... price is a bit high right now IMO but may put in an offer on a couple (two different boats/two locations). Both are 2004... one has wake tower but both are virtually the same boats. A little curious about the Select 220... most have the 5.0 MPI as well that seems a little light for this boat.

So.......... how did the Sea Ray's look ?
