Looking to buy a newer Horizon or Freedom OB preferably with a 150 eTec. PM or let me know where to look... They seem to be like hens teeth

Hens teeth indeed.

I spent nearly a year looking for my 2004.

The last year that Four Winns made them was 2005....although, I have only ever seen one of that year.

As of right now Four Winns now has the new H180 OB. Based on my searching, a new one would be at least 2x the cost of a near perfect 6+ year old one.

You won't find a used one with an eTec unless it's been repowered. The eTec 150 wasn't on the market when the last of these boats were made. The next best motor is what I have. Evinrude Direct Injection. This is pre eTec, but post FICHT.

I have RSS feeds for many of the craigslist in my general area...including OH, MI, IN, IL and WI.

The last boat I saw for sale with a 150 Evinrude was back in July. It was the 2005...I have a phone number from the ad. I have no idea if the owner still has it or not. It was in the UP of Michigan.

What's holding me back on a new one is a) the price compared to as you say a nearly perfect used one and b) the limitation of 130HP max. I'd really like the added torque of the V6 150 etec. I've searched Craiglist within 500 miles of my location in Cincinnati and no luck finding anything. I think more boats will start showing up in ads in April/May but I don't want to wait too long. I may have to go in the direction of the Glastron GT180 to get a 150..... sigh...

Ok. I'm pulling up all my searches and here is what I have found:

http://www.boattrader.com/listing/1999- ... N-97944857

http://www.boattrader.com/listing/2000- ... R-97569521

Either of these could be repowered with a newer Evinrude...they both appear to be in good shape.

Well, I guess I need to post this sort of as a joke, but also somewhat seriously.

I have seen this boat posted on craigslist a few times now:

http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/boa/2190039697.html

It isn't newer.
It does have a 150 HP Evinrude. Not an eTec.
It is GREEN.

There is something intrigueing about this boat to me. Although, I think it is pretty ugly.

Must have been painted, that green sure doesn't look like a standard FW color. I have seen a few FWs with OBs out here, if I ever found a Horizon 200 or a Sundowner 205 with one in good shape for sure I would consider buying it.

No, that GREEN is actually a factory FW color. I have seen a few boats over the year that color. If I'm not mistaken there is a member on this board with a boat that color.

I searched high and low for a 195 Sundowner w/an OB at a price I could afford before I decided to go with the '97-05 180 hull.

Green is fine for some but not me, no way!

I did see the '99 which seems to be decent shape and price. It's interesting but wasn't really wanting to do a repower especially since the cost is ~$11K brining the 'total investment' to $20K. Might as well buy new at that point.

I hear you and completely understand. However, you don't have to go new to repower. Every once and a while a used e-Tec will show up for sale for $8k or less. Also, that 115HP Johnson has some value...I'd say it would probably go for around $2.5k+ or so on eBay.

Speaking of eBay, I just came accross this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Evinrude ... 45f8703b09

Boy, now you have me thinking...
