Thanks for the info. Yes we slip but I'm looking at my options for storage and transport. If I remove the weatherstripping from our dock door, I can get the 338 in my warehouse so the trailer is very interesting. I would love nothing better than to have my boat in a heated warehouse and 24/7 access to sit on the bow and dream of warmer days. We need to find someone with a large enough truck to pull the boat. Its about 70 miles to our marina, or 20 miles to the nearest launch to get us off the river. Would also have to deal with the whole permit thing. I could pay for the trailer within a few years versus storage costs.

I also have a line on a cradle that fits a 338, rather than using jack stands. Does anyone else use a cradle?

The biggest problem your going to have is the hieght issue. your boat will be 12" overheight sitting on the trailer, and thats to the top of the arch. Add another 12" or so for the raydome. Unless the 338 has the folding arch in '07. Thats whay I waited to get an 08, 318 thats when they started doing the folding arch on them.

I was looking at Loadmaster trailers and was ready to pull the trigger when I found a gently used one for this hull. Mine with the electronics off and the arch folded will come in at 12' 2" or so.

Well in one respect I am in luck. I have hull #1 of the 2007 338 and it does have a folding arch.

Would you be comfortable with a boat of that weight sitting on trailer bunks for 4 months? That's why the cradle is an inviting option if I can get over the not being able to trailer it thing. I guess I want it all.

Well Im no expert, but I dont see a problem with having the boat sit on a trailer for 4 months, ecspecially if its a trailer for the hull. Mine is in indoor heated storage this year and its keel blocked with 4 jackstands outboard, but there is a Formula 34 PC a few rows over sitting on its trailer in the same building Im in.

I plan in getting a season long permit this year, I think they are only like 50 bucks. You have to call ahead and approve the route, run over wide flags and no nights or weekend travel. For the few times we will move it, I can work around those few things.
