Looking at a 1994 Four Winns 230 Horizon. I'm not sure what to look for. Here is the as: 1994 Four Winns 230 Horizon. She is in excellent condition with lots of room and plenty of power. OMC King Cobra EFI V8 with 270 prop hp and has less than 50 hours on it. Stainless steel prop. Has a 5-gal. fresh water system, large bimini top, and dual batteries. Upholstery and carpet are in great condition. Extras include an anchor, several life jackets, beach stake, paddle, etc. Tandem axle trailer tows great. Boat has been garage stored most of her life. She is a sweet boat and a must see! Questions, I have no idea what to look for, I've read some stuff about the King Cobra and issues but what should I bee looking for. What questions should I ask? He's asking $9500.00 for it, what do you think on pricing? Any help on what I should look for, ask for and be aware of would be greatly appreciated. |

I would question the hours on it. Seems super low for her age. Everyone agree? But first I would get it inspected by a professional. |

Boat that old I would expect at least a couple hundred on her. Hell mine is a 98 and has prob. around 500. Not positive as hour meter was inop when I bought it, but I have over 50 on in two season. 07H200SS wrote: I would question the hours on it. Seems super low for her age. Everyone agree? Get a newer one with a Volvo or Merc power package. Some parts are very hard to get for the King Cobras, and that year could be the rare cone clutch King, or it could be the joint venture Cobra, post a pic of the drive and then I could tell you. The joint venture Cobra is the same as a Volvo SX. I'd also go over to http://www.dougrussell.com and look up the engine/drive, check to see if key replacement parts (ie, hoses, electronic ignition components, fuel system components, drive parts, exhaust parts) are still available. I have an older OMC and some parts are hard to find, and BRP, who bought the assets of OMC when they went under, is not looking to make all the OMC parts available for these older sterndrives so you can get stuck with a nice boat that can't be fixed because of a lack of parts. So get a newer one or get them to really drop the price..... |

He told me he had an engine replacement in '06 due to a freeze - cracked block after he failed to winterized the boat one year. Says he has receipts for it too. 07H200SS wrote: DJ63 wrote: Whats considered high or to low on hours? Boat that old I would expect at least a couple hundred on her.
