Bought this for the new boat, wanted something fairly compact so I chose the Garmin 431. Its actually a great little chartplotter but the coverage on my lake is not as detailed as I'd like (Fort Loudoun in TN) so I picked up a different one. This is preloaded with the inland lakes, I also bought the Vision upgrade (adds 3D and a couple other minor features) for the Southeast - an added bonus if you live in that area. Also included is a RAM 1" mount dual ball mount (30.00). Its pretty much brand new, was on the boat for about one hour, I paid 380.00 for the GPS, 90.00 for the Vision upgrade and 30.00 for the mount. Looking to get 300.00 shipped lower 48. The Vision upgrade card is locked to the unit so its included whether you want it or not ![]() I'll get some pics up tomorrow, paypal OK. |

Is it a sounder too? If so, is there a NEMA2k connector on it? |

Quote: GARMIN GPS 431/531 NMEA 2000 = No, NMEA 1083 = Yes, Garmin CANet = No , Sonar "s" version only. Where applicable, the sounder version, GPSMAP 431s, comes with a powerful dual-beam transducer that clearly illustrates depth contours, fish targets and structure whether you’re fishing in freshwater or off the coast. The Garmin GPSMAP 431 and GPSMAP 431s are also NMEA 0183-certified for easy connectivity with sensors, instruments and future marine offerings.

The "s" model means it is a sounder. The OP said it was a 431, and did not mention it was a 431s. So, since you have time to respond so gracefully, you should have time to ask the OP if it is an "s" or not. I will watch eagerly. |

It has no sounder and has no NMEA2000, it only has NMEA0183, its a pretty basic unit. Its not an 'S' unit. Here is a pic: ![]() any other questions feel free to ask. |

What puzzles me is why you write for other people. You seem to have all the answers, that is way I was asking you. You are like my youngest son, I told him. "You should be at M.I.T. (About 5 miles from your house) you have all the answers to everything! You can make a million dollars and move out!" |

To kp47 I just thought I would ask to make sure. I have a Gamin 720 and I want a different fish-finder than the one I have. Because the 0183 between manufactures does not always work and want to display the depth on the 720. Thanks & good luck in selling it. |

kp47, my apologies to you for stepping all over your thread. I thought the 14 seconds it took for me to look up the answer to Mr I's question was not out of line. Also, my dock neighbor bought a 431 this summer, and I helped him learn how to use it, so I thought some actual experience with the unit my be of value. Apparently not. Back to your regularly scheduled Garmin 431 thread. You should have no trouble selling it for that price. Best of luck. |

Not a big deal guys. Some people may have listed the item and not put it down as an 'S' model, if that was the case 300 would be a smokin deal thats for sure. Cap'n was just trying to be helpful since sometimes people list things and dont show back up for days to answer questions, or never even show back up all ![]() |
