First off, welcome, glad to have you here. I am posting this to help the spring influx of new FW's members and to help them out a bit when it comes to posting. If you recently joined this forum, please consider the following:

1. Set up your profile BEFORE posting your first post. In the upper left corner is User Control Panel, click that, then select Profile. Here you can put your location, which always helps with some geographic specific tips. Also, it is nice to know if other members are nearby. NOTE: I'm not asking for your home address and phone number here, just a geographic location (i.e. Lake Ontario).

2. While in the Profile area, use the Edit Signature feature. Here you can include the specifics of your boat (See mine for an example). This will alleviate the need for other posters to continually ask what year/engine/drive, when answering questions from you.

3. Posting pics (its kinda the biggest rule here). Yes, it is not the easiest, but it can be done if ya got a flickr/photobucket/etc account. Here is a tutorial about that; http://www.smwebhead.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1877

4. When you first join, post at least one post, even if ya don't have a problem with your boat, at least say hi. The reason why, is we get a lot of spammers here, and posting something shows your not one.

5. To go along with #4, don't be a one-post-wonder. If you ask a question and get an answer, post a "thanks" or tell us how the answer fixed your problem, it could save someone else from having to ask the same question. Don't be that guy who joins the forum just to get an answer, then is never heard from again.

Again, welcome, there are lots of great folks here with tons of knowledge.

good stuff -- I cleared about 200 accounts just now -- we will be adding some more span bot fixes here soon. But when I st up one fix, they seem to circumvent the counter measrures. I appreciate the moderators helping to curb the flow as much as possible.

Great post NiagaraChillin!! I completely missed this when you posted it, but this is great info for all the new members...and there is a lot of them. Thanks for taking the time :D

The only thing I would add is to #3 this link for a picture posting tutorial http://www.smwebhead.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=1877

Thanks Bliss, I would have added that one, but I couldn't find it when I was putting the list together. Thanks for the addition...
