What's up with photobucket.

All my photos say that 3rd party hosting is disabled. I look at my account and it says that 3rd party hosting is only available if I sign up for a Paid Account that is $399 per year.

My posted pictures look like this:

It has become a real pain to use due to the immense amount of ads running on their page. Never had the issue you are though.. Have you maxed out the free storage amount?

I'm only using 5% of the free storage amount. Maybe the number of downloads was too high? But I only use that account for this iFourWinns Forum...nothing else!

For whatever reason, it looks like mine are still working. They may be phasing them out in some kind of order, or maybe there is a some sort of limit imposed (space or bandwidth?)
I only have around 30 or so pics and I've purposely kept them small before I upload them so they load fast in ppl's browsers.. maybe 800x600 jpg with higher lossy compression... most of them are around 200k or so..

PhotoBucket wants $399/year for their lowest price service that allows 3rd party hosting
I wrote them an email and told them I would not pay more than $30/yr for the little amount that I use. I'm sure I'll never hear back from them. No more PhotoBucket for me!

I just converted one of my posts using http://www.picturetrail.com for free.
(looked at Flikr first, but couldn't find how to get the direct IMG link)

Thanks,
Just logged in to PB today to do the reading. No way people are willing to pay $40/mo to use 3rd part hosting. With their site being almost unusable with all the ads now, might as well switch. Can't even fathom how many sites like this are littered with the photobucket error images. I've been using them for as long as some of our members have been alive!

Hi Ty,
Are you able to view your own signature picture? I am using Internet Explorer, and your signature picture just shows the Photobucket error.

I guess it's only a solution if Everyone switches to chrome and installs the extension. Even so, it might be a matter of time before Photobucket figures out how to block it.

I have been trying out Flickr

Does anyone know if there is a way in Flickr to output smaller versions of your uploaded photos (keeping to the 1024wx768h limit)? Or do you have to resize them before uploading?

In addition to the Chrome add-on, there is now one for Firefox. I am using it for Chrome and it works great.

Firefox: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/photobucket-embedded-fix/

Gang -- I would allow uploads, but would have to start charging for membership or start ads. This site is basically a pro bono and actually costs me $$ monthly.

I can float the idea and see if anyone wants to start the ads or charges. ughhhhhh
