I just downloaded the extension for chrome and after deleting cookies it worked I can view photo bucket pics. then I tried using google photos to host a pic I wanted to share and it worked easy first time ever. I could never figure out photo bucket or any of the others. on google photos just right click and copy link even I can do it

Hi Scott,
Personally, I think the site is good how it is. There are plenty of ways to host pictures (free) elsewhere.
It's just a nuisance that photobucket screwed with so many previously established posts.

On the other hand, I could put up with advertisements if that's what you decide.

Charging a fee to access the website would limit your base and would likely kill this great forum. However, I have seen where ads can work with the option of a nominal fee to remove the ads (yearly, lifetime, etc).
