I have seen what appears to be a forum member editing another members post. How can this be? Is the editor a mod? BTW I agree with the edit.

Although I don't agree with a mod deleting a filtered curse word (especially when Mod I opened a thread with it), I do agree with the edit on what could possibly be one of your last post on this forum. I just wish Mod II (aguyindallas) had gone further and deleted the entire last sentence. I hope you will have better memories of us and sorry to see you get out of boating and good luck with your new hobby.

Scott has asked for a little help in moderating simply because he is too busy with his work etc...MAINLY to deal with the amount of spam we get in spurts. This has always been a pretty family oriented forum and I think we all want to keep it that way. I dont want to have to hide my screen if somebody walks in my office etc. This often includes watching our language. We all cuss...no big deal really, but there is one thing we dont want to see happen that many people dont realize....

There are a lot of corporate spam and web filters around the world. MOST if not all of us view this forum from work, on work computers. I for one would hate to see this forum blacklisted in the web filters due to an over use of bad language. Even "masked" words can be key words that the web filters look for. It would be quite upsetting to come to work to discover ifourwinns has been blocked due to content.

We all try to stay clean and we all slip up once in a while. Its not big deal, we just want to look out for the greater good of the whole site. Rest assured, this will not become an over moderated forum like many out there (I hate that!).

I'm opposed to editing someone else's posts.

It's FAR better to send a PM to the author asking for a change.

Now, if they're not willing to comply with forum rules then perhaps it's better to delete entire posts than selectively re-writing someone else's text.

Work place filters are no excuse. It is WORK, after all, if they don't want you reading 'objectionable' material then that's their prerogative. But it's no reason to force censorship on everyone else.

Well. Here is my take. If it is extreme profanity, the item will be deleted. I usually pm the person to edit post first, but to be honest, do we really have to keep track of who has been contacted and who has not, better yet, just keep it clean and we don't even need to have this conversation.

I will monitor the best I can, hopefully we will launch my project and I will have more free time to devote.

Thanks for understanding.
