Hey I'm not a DBAG all the time. I like to think I can provide some kind of real world positive feedback for this guy since we own virtually the same boat, drive, engine (I'm 220hp v8)

Does anyone know if FW used a Lenco or Bennett part? I found this in the options for the 2003 H240:

SWITCH,DPDT,VLDIS00B-CZB00-000 ON-OFF-ON 6/1/2002 - Present 028-0460

TRIM TAB KIT, 9"X9" SHORT STROKE 6/1/2002 - Present 065-1268

The factory fitted tabs on my 2004 ( built late 2003) 245 Sundowner are Bennett ones.

I apologize to anyone offended. I meant no disrespect. I thought I was clear in what I was looking for from this topic and to tell me a boat does not need tabs or you need to use this type of tab gets me going.

Graham sent me a PM giving me the layout and trim tab information from Bennett that will fit my boat perfectly. This is exactly what I was looking for. With a FW boat you do not have the room for a standard tab. What Bennett did was cut the mounting plate in half, one side being curved to allow for a mounting under the pods. Other small modifications were also made.

Also RIC, a 225 sundowner is a 22’6” boat with the remainder on the swim platform giving you 24’ LOA. Unless I’m wrong I’d read your boat to be 1 ft less on actual boat length and 50 HP less. However they may be close in length and design, at the end of the day they have different molds and engineering.

These are factory tabs on a 240H

These are my tabs -- I narrowed a set of Bennett tabs I had on my previous boat -- they work fantastic.

As you can see from the trailer I boat in salt water.
Real trim tabs have a lot of uses other than getting up on plane.
Only people who have them and use them seem to understand that.
The Bennett product has been reliable and serviceable.

thx
Dale

So you cut down some 9X12's right? The factory spec ones are called 9X9 "short stroke"... Bennett Makes a 9X9 but I have not seen a "short stroke" designation...

I don't know you at all, but you couldn't be farther from knowing what you are talking about. I have been boating my complete life and I know when a boat needs or does not need trim tabs.

----- snip -----

So in this forum topic, do not tell me about smart tabs, I do not want to know. Do not tell me I don't need trim tabs, because clearly you do not know. I only want responses with others who have installed trim tabs, what ones they have used and that is the only thing I am looking for.

I would give a reply. But I don't need to be ridiculed. That's what wives are for... Not hobby friends. Take a chill pill dude. And learn to use please and thank you in a sentence.

Well Graham, the original poster (Paul) asked a specific question. I clearly understood what he was seeking and thanks to you he got the help he needed. Ric butted in with his usual pshycobabble and Paul politely asked him to stay out of it. Things got a little heated but cooled off and moderation wasn't needed IMO.

Steady as she goes Gents. :D

If Ric would just add "In my opinion" before his grandiose statements, then they wouldn't require a response like that.

Everyone's opinion should be welcome, but opinion is different from "fact".

Well with an attitude like the I am afraid you are going to get some. Mike and I are seeing the same here. Don't come on here acting like we are your subordinates or unruley kids. There is a lot of knowledge on this board, I advise you to be thankful and appreciative of it and not demand it.

Most of us will agree here that Ric is a D-bag...but you sir right now are no better.

I know I am not allowed to give any advice, but I will take my chances here. Your main problem is our boat is underpowered with the wrong drive. I know, not something you can change now, but it is reality with some of the issues you mention.

Have a wonderful day.

I agree. I had an 04 225 with the Volvo 5.7 duoprop and had no issues. Boated on Lake Michigan and no issues.
