Update: The local electronics guy quoted $1500 for a new sensor system, plus 8 hrs labor at $120 per hour to fit three tank gauges and senders
Too steep for my budget, so after a lot of research, I settled on WEMA analogue gauges and did it my self for under $250 and three hours work. I noticed some places in the U.S. had the Wema gauges for as low as $29 and the senders for $40 - but the vendor didn't use air-freight - and I sea-freight to OZ take about 7 weeks. !
Things I like about the Wema analouge setup;
- TheWema gauges fit exactly in the holes of the old Xintex units,
- I could use the existing single wire run to each sensor
- You see the exact tank levels, not only quarterly movements as some other systems.
I used one gauge for the holding tank, and shared one gauge for the Fresh / Grey water, using an double pole throw switch to select between Fresh & Grey water senders.
The Oz supplied senders only come in 1 1/4 inch BSP fitting, but the original senders were 1 1/2 inch NPT. So I used the thread from the old senders and epoxied the new senders into the old threads. (U.S. Wema senders are NPT)
Works great ! - the only issue is I'm sure that my boat has some sort of grounding issue - when I turn on any pumps or reduce the voltage in any way, the gauges will under-read by around 20% - but that's only temporary.
Very satisfying fixing something yourself
