I Just bought this boat and it has the 5.7 Volvo 280hp motor. Its running 42-45 mph and will tach over 5000. The prop is a factory 19 pitch . What's the best prop for 50mph with a decent hole shot. ? Thanks in advance

Hi mate, I have recently purchased a 2007 H220 and only had it out twice. Once with the original 19P prop and second time with a new 19P High 5 prop. What a difference to holeshot and low speed handling.
Cant tell you what revs or mph mine does as I haven't tried it.

The difference is very noticeable.

The advice to get the High 5 prop came from a boat dealer that has worked with Four Winns boats forever.

With that boat/motor combo, I don't think you can hit 50 AND have ANY hole-shot. I say pick one or the other.
Case in point my boat weighs less, has 40 more HP and I can only hit 52 and still get decent hole-shot. 50 MPH with my Hi-five is all, and even those numbers are on smooth water pushing 5200+ RPM.

out of curiosity....why in the word would anyone want to do 50 mph in a boat....I think mine tops out at 40 and is loud, windy, and I think its the only time the fuel gauge is accurate (I can see it going down)

fun for a few short bursts I suppose, maybe I am getting too old

Mine tops out at 53MPH with a 4 blade prop and I'd be doing that everywhere, if I could.
Time is something humans have against them. I get sh1t done quick!

Its a dilemma!!

Sometimes I want to hall ass to our favourite ski spot, about 30 minutes from the ramp, 20 flat out, 40 on a slow cruise....

Sometimes I want a whip ass hole shot with a boat load of people....

Sadly cant have both.... Boats don't have gears.

MMM share my secret spots with you I might.... Just watched Star-wars Clone-wars with my kids...lol

If it is a long sunny day, Taylor's arm off Jerusalem creek at Eildon... or another spot further around Quick morning ski's we head to Lake Narracan or the Hazelwood pondage ( always warm from the power station but windy as hell). Weekends are either, Bridgewater on Loddon, or the Murray west of Yarrawonga.

We often go to Grafton on the Clarence river in Northern NSW for the longer holidays, it's a 2 day drive with the boat but worth it if you go for a week or two. Some of the best water for skiing I have ever had up there. It is very wide and most mornings you can ski on glass water to the coast from Grafton... over 50kms of big wide glass water..... That's where you need the low down hole shot to pull a big skier out with 2 families on board, but the longer prop to head back to camp at the end of the day...

Ok, fair enough. Explains why the bass boat drivers wear helmets with an F1 engine on the back of a 16 foot boat too I guess.

I boar on a 10 mile lake that takes an hour to go end to end and normally we go around in circles its also littered with obstacles on occasion

A variable pitch prop that will self adjust from 17P to 26P, depending on the Torque/speed. By all accounts it really works wonders but at close to US$2000.00 you would have to be serious!!!

Craig.. I don't , water is normally too choppy to get a good ski. 45 mins from my place to the bay, 1 hr to Lake Narracan...

Trim Tabs solved my hole shot problem. She jumps on plane with them full down and then I trim up for speed/comfort.
