Yes. Go to NAPA with your engine size (3.0) Make (Volvo Penta or Merc), and year (2000). Might even want to take the make model number filter you have on there now...

Anything that will cross reference with a Fram PH5 (long filter) or PH30 (short filter). The PH5 variants should fit as there's plenty of room on a 3.0 for the larger filter. Factory is PH30 style. When I had a 3.0 I used the K&N HP-3002, which is a long filter.

Also, you can't use standard oil in the 3.0, it's a flat tappet engine. It's how the cam/valve train is designed. All that really means is you HAVE to use an oil with zinc in it to avoid damage to the camshaft, and in 2014 no oils contain zinc except oils marketed for diesel engines. Shell Rotella T 15W-40 is $13 bucks for a gallon at walmart.

Nothing personal Ric, but the information you're portraying is bogus.
Most petrol oriented oils (even low SAPS oils have zinc!) do have a form of zinc (ZDDP) in them.
For a quality oil oriented for flat tappet use, rule of thumb is <1000ppm of zinc.
Low SAPS oils designed for the latest Euro Emissions Standards/ DPF equipped diesels, generally have around half of this ppm amount.
Diesel oils can shear faster in petrol applications, due to EGT's and high RPM. Use diesel oils in diesel engines.
Find an API specification that starts with 'S' (spark ignition) and not 'C' (compression ignition) i.e. API: SN/CF and not API: CJ-4.

I run this in my flat tappet 5.7. It has one of the highest ZDDP additive packs available on the market & is a Group 4 and 5 PAO/ Ester product:

Wow - This has become another oil thread I've taken the bait on!

I run AMSOIL marine/diesel 15-40. oil pressure is always perfect.
