It's mounted right on the neck where the exhaust bellows would normally be installed.

I'm curious to confirm, this is mounted on the out drive side of things? Hard to tell by the picture.

Yes, underneath the leg, and as LouC suggested you remove the bellows and install the flapper as the exhaust exits the transom housing.

I was looking at this if my internal exhaust flappers were broken. They are not so I am leaving it... if it ain't broke...

*Loud pipes save lives!

p.s. If you heard mine, you'd stop via the boat store on your way home, to get a flapper!

Now there is a challenge... They are cheap enough so I might just try it!

Because of the vast difference between the quoted "Fast Facts" and my expectation, and the real world performance, I fully expected to find the exhaust flappers blocking the exhaust, but they were all intact and looking reasonable.

I have changed to a 17P prop to get me out the water but run it to the rev limiter every time. I have removed the beeper thing to shut it up when it hits the limit as it stays at WOT when I am skiing and the constant beeping is annoying. SO a louder exhaust might sound better

this is why the invented CAPTAINS CHOICE exhaust. when desired to be loud it can be.. and when int he marine it can be stealth.. i simply desire to hear the motor when i want. I am a gear head. and a motor junky. My truck is loud but not so loud that it is annoying or disturbing. It has that RIGHT rumble.. I agree that their is such thing as "TOO LOUD" but never such a thing as too fast..
