The flappers (doncha love technical terms?) that redirect the exhaust between the transom exhaust and the thru-hull exhaust don't move all the way on my boat, making it pretty loud when the switch is off. I can hear and feel the exhaust at the hull ports, and there is also a bit of water coming out there as well when the switch is off (both sides). The mechanic I asked about it said the only fix would be to replace both valves ($$$$), but I'm not sure he was very familiar with the system.

I'm wondering if it might be possible to disassemble and clean up or repair the system? Anyone here try it?

I like the feature sometimes, in carefully selected circumstances, but I'd like to be a quieter boater most of the time.

I had the same when new, but work fine now. With the motor off, I first tried to cycle them and "help" by hand freeing anything up. Second, and most successful, I cycled a whole bunch of times with the motor off. I then did the same at the ramp with the motor running to verify it worked.

Hope that helps!

Thanks, Walt!

I have cycled the actuators by hand, and they seem to move easily and stop firmly, either by hand or with the switch. I ran the motor in the driveway on the hose and tried moving the actuators by hand, but nothing was different from with the switch--still pretty loud out the sides even when "off" (but definitely louder when "on").

It looks like the rod on the actuators might be adjustable, so I can try extending that to see if I can get it to seal better. Otherwise, maybe Corsa has a rebuild kit with a new flapper. Looks like getting those diverters out to rebuild will be a bit of a chore, though.
