The Kohler generator would run for 30 mins then cutout. After some time it would start again and run fine for 30 mins, then shutdown again.
Yep, it was gunk in the strainer. (It was my first trip out in the boat - so I'm wondering when the previous owner actually cleaned it last....)
This prompted a few questions. - what is the mechanism that leads to shut down? Is it a temp limit that causes an auto-shutdown? - Or does it sense a lack of water flow? If it is a temp based switch, are these effective in avoiding overheat damage? I am assuming the temp switch has done it's job to such damage.....but any advice/opinions from experience most welcome.
