See I would have never thought about that, what a great forum.

It depends on what type pop up cleats you want. some have cups that attach, with and without drain tubes. Monterey uses Gemlux pop up cleats, they have
waterproof caps that eliminate the need for any "plumbing". FW does not use Gem.

Put the hinges on the buff wheel for about 15 seconds tonight when I got home. And looks like they are going to polish out very nice with about 15 or so min of polish this week.

4/6 35 minutes
Mix resin, wet out the starboard stringer with glass along with 2nd side of both bulkheads with 1708 on all 3.

Tonight i will sand and flush router all of the edges. gut glass for the pop side of the stringers. laminate the port stringer. Glass the starboard side stringer 2nd side.

SO far i have used 1.5 gallons of epoxy 50/50 resin with some loss as expected on the edge seepage. I would estimate a loss of about 1.5 cups which is not bad. But i will tell you that 1708 drinks the resin. But it is thick structural glass so that is to be expected.

I am still on track to glass the stringers and bulkheads into the hull this week as planned. If i can stay on schedule i will be a happy camper.

It was 8* cooler last night in the shop and it is apparent that that drop is at the viscosity threshold of the chemical state of the resin. this batch was a bit more yellow milky color and a tad thicker than my last work way. 64* int he shop vs 72*. food for thought. this morning the set up was finger print minimal tack as i had expected being a little cooler last night.

Weather forecast for the next 10 days is 73-88* with a low of 54 one night. so this is nice. I hope that the 40% rain on sunday does not happen. as i may have to glass in on sat AM. Also hope the sunday rain does not happen as i planned to go to the inwatter boat show at the marina. BUT the temps are good for glass70s-80 are great in my book. fast enough cure times but not 100* where a batch could kick too fast and waist half a tub before applied. Which i freaking hate.

little update. got some work done last night

4/8 1 hr 45 min --- total time 27.74 man hours

skim coat over the bulkheads (easier than filler), sanded and prepped both back sides of the stringers, screwed and glued the port seat support notch to the stringer, gut 1708 for both stringer backs. Glassed the starboard stringer as the glue was not good and hard after 3 hours. I will glass the port stringer tonight.

Things are moving along nicely now that i have good 80* temps to get the glass kicking. I am ready to see the structure glassed into the boat. This is the next milestone. I feel once this happens the next couple mile stones will happen very quickly.

also wanted to add, not knowing if it has been said before. That i have a RIKON roof mount double filtration air cleaner that runs and collets all the crap int he air.

Mixed up some POOKIE peanut butter mix to fill the screw holes and the joints. Laid down 1708 with 32oz or resin. i may of had 2-3oz of loss after rolling it smooth with he blister buster roller. that 1708 drinks the resin. I bet i use 2 gallons on the cockpit floor.

If this rain stops and the sun comes out i will try and get the parts int he boat and cut the 1708 tabs cut so that tomorrow glass in can go fast.

What a mile stone weekend this was. Man I feel like i accomplished so much and so little all at the same time.

4/11 2 hours
Grind and smooth the remaining edges of the stringers and bulkheads. Ans started prepping the hull for install.

4/12 3 hours.
FInal grinding of a few spots int he hull of glass. A ton of shop vac cleaning followed by Denatured alcohol while down EVERYWHERE potential glass will go. Wipe down all the parts. Set up my glass station int he boat and got ready for the marathon mix session. 2 32oz back to back mixes of thickened pookie butter for the backs of the stringers to laminate to existing. I will tell you this part was a lot more happening at once than i had expected. Well i knew it was going to be 7 hands needed but i only had 2 hands and 2 feet. Needless to say my monkey feet got resin all on them BUT the job got done. got both sides stood and wedged into exact location and the bulkheads in place. ONLY got the center bulkhead Tabbed in. dark fell and With a 4 month old i was stop and go all day with having to drop everything for almost 2 hours and do the LAWn as it looks like rain for the next 10 freaking days. SO glad that atlas the supporting structure is in. I can climb inside the tent and do tab work this week at least.

the 2 jugs on side are trying to get the last couple drops out of. YOU know cannot waist this epoxi resin

4/13/2015 15 minutes 33.74 man hours total now

fillets and tabbed int he stern bulkhead. I plan to tab the engine side tonight. That is going to be fun in the limited space around the engine. wahoo. the drain PVC will get pocked in once the opposite side is tabbed. And another layer of glass will wrap the drain and be trimmed smooth to the pvc arch in the drain area. The pvc is a 1.5" pipe cut down to a nice size arch that will fit in that irregular ugly drain area. This will produce a long lasting water tight drain under both bulkheads that will las and last. the stringers will get tabbed also, Hopefully this week dependent not he rain schedule.

Last night 4/14/2015 was a great night between rain storms with 1hour and 45 minutes of productive work. total man hours is 35.49

after a 520 dinner at the express hibachi spot up the road i got to work in my clear window between storms. Cookie in the seams then 4" 1708 tabbing on all of the remaining seams. Glass tab structure for the drains with the 1/2 cut 2" PVC pipe for the drains. they should make great drain tunnels. and will be trimmed flush later. This compartment is ready for trim, sand, skim, primer, paint. Man that feels good. Still have to tab the long seams on the ski locker and the back side of the engine bulkhead for the sub structure to be all done and ready for paint.

MR. Brown truck left me a package on the porch. a nice new Springfield 18x30" oval table with thread lock post and base.. LOVE the table and post, BUT the deck base is less than to be desired int he finish department. it is horribly raw and would tear up a foot. The sander will have to smooth it out then hit with mu polisher to make it mirror. As it sits this is not being bolted to my boat.

Will a polished finish last, in the elements?
Why don't you have it powder coated?

its aluminum and should have no issue lasting in the elements. It may tarnish some thru the year but some barkeep or NeverDull cotton will keep it nice.

I polish my stainless knives that i make to mirror and they do not ever need anything more than a buff on a rag after using and they are good.
BUT white PC would not be bad at all.
