When you have a newborn baby or toddler no matter what else you do, it ain't good if the child doesn't stop crying. Any of the work I got done way back then was when they were sleeping!

5/4 47.823 total man hours.

After the wife and baby went to sleep I got the lips sanded. Flipped the panel. and glasses 1708 to the bottom side and around the radius. a solid sheet of 9oz will lock it all out after i router the latch pocket out. The divots caused by he clamps will disappear with filler when i smooth it all out perfecto.

Image

Tonight will put another coat of paint in the ski locker is my plan and do the router work on the hatch latch.

Seriously need to weigh the locker hatch and do the physics for the gas strut force and length needed for easy operation.. and order up a strut and some mounts.. YES i kinda forgot about this element.. I also need to decide if i am going all stainless not he strut or the black anodized which has proven to hold up very nice.. The SS is mainly aesthetics and about 2x the money.. DECISIONS DECISIONS

5/7 15 min
Tape and mask off the ski locker fresh paint in prep for floor install

5/8 45minutes
Install of the front half of the floor. Mixed up some peanut butter and coated all of the stringers. Placed the floor and got it all aligned. Pilot holes for the temp anchor screw. inched down the stringer points and added a couple hundred pounds of weights to the edges to hold the resin welds (as i like to call them, resin in the pouter seams to the gunnels to hold the edges in place and not curl up..

Image

5/11 1hr 15 min.
Final fitment of the 2 rear floor sections around the fuel tank area. trim for fitment and a finish 1/2 radius router on the lips.
Peanutbutter ont he stringers and anchor screws with weights on the edges.

Image

used some 1" insulation foam to make the template for the rear sunpad engine hatch. Matching the alignment tot he side bolsters the best i can from the factory brochure as the sundae was wrong when i bough the boat so i have no point of reference to go off of other than photos. I am liking the new size and location. keep in mind that it will have a fluff of padding so should be damn close to level with the gunnel top line when all said and done.

5/13 20 minutes

peanutbutter in all of the edge seams.. a small front rolled in and the temps dropped last night into the 60s over night so i decided to not lay any glass to tab in the edges.. I will accomplish this tonight hopefully.

new pitot kit came in the mail over the weekend while we were out of town. $8 shipped can not beat that deal
Also we found a life jacket that fits the little man amazing and he loves it. Started smiling and feeling all the textures the moment we put him in it in the store. 5 days at my parents place on Edisto this weekend will be the first beach and boating for the little man at 5 months old.. I guess i need to put the boat in HIGH gear to get it done now that he has the life jacket and size to go out.

5/18

totally forgot that i needed to sand all of the edge seams in prep for tabbing.. that ate up all of my available time last night. Well tonight I will get all the edges tabbed in. In addition i hope to get the sun pad hatch fitted and cut so that i can lay some glass tonight or tomorrow. thursday-tuesday are a bust as i will be out of town for memorial..

As many have noticed that this was my original DUE date. WELL i will not make it and i hate this. BUT my son is more important and my time lost to the boat has been spent with him. Hs is still small and cannot be outside for Lengthy times so not a total loss. I will proceed on with the FW project and i guess it is time to start breaking out the lights and working late hours. It has got to get done..

The biggest issue is available time and the fact that i want it to look perfect. Why do it half ass.

no pics today nothing really to show.. Pics tonight i am hoping..

some grinding, sanding, Vacuum, Cut all of the tab 1708 strips, removed the last of the gunnel wall carpet. Got the sides tabbed in. DAMN those bugs were terrible. worked till 11:45 and called it. Night work is wha ti have if i want to spend time with my son after work.. the good thing is i wilt have to do too many night LIGHT bug nights once the floor is glassed and painted. The gunnels will need a sanding and a skim coat as they are raw Glass. after a skim coat and finish sand they will be nice and slick ready for paint.

At lunch i picked up 1/2 6 ply finished sheet for the sun pad. and a sheet of 1/2 for the bench seat. YES, i am remaking the structure of the bench. The 3/4 is simply too damn heavy and not needed. 1/2 = 40# 3/4=60 and i use a full sheet for the bench plus a top lid for the seat bottom. add glass and the fact that it is 7 feet long.. it is very awekward to maneuver. No i do not plan to remove from the boat often. but if i choose to remove for some reason i would like to be able to manage it solo.. and 1/2" boxed and glassed will be plenty.. I will recycle the 3/4 for some other project.

The engine hatch will get 1x4 laminated to the underside in a reinforcement pattern shaped like the british flag. with rounded corners and router edges. YES i took in to account aesthetics when the hatch is open and the underside will be color matched to the hull and interior. NO i am not adding silly mirrors my name is not RIC.

also ordered a Stainless keyless flush deck fuel filler to replace the crusty white plastic factory one.

In process of changing out my gages like you did to the Faria, where did you find the gage risers for the tach and speedo?

Because the tach and speedo are the same size as the cutouts I ended up dual purpose needing them. But it was always my intentions to add the risers to make them pop! So it works out. Top quality product worth the money. It is the little details.

Thanks, and ouch the adapter rings are a little pricey. Do the adapters come with some hardware to clamp to the dash plate or did you make something to go around the gage itself under the plastic retainer?

I had some scrap 1/8" lexan in the shop and cut some rings. Keep in mind these are intended for drop in gauges not resea so you have to adapt a bit. They are a quality product.

Well the Fuel filler came in. I could not wait last night when we got home to toss it in place.. Oh man i am happy and it is not even installed.. Install will happen tonight..

Last night i laid a couple more feet of tabbing int he bow area around the cable snake tube and the walls to the bow seating.. The tight areas always take forever.. I will sand the tabbing smooth and cut all of the floor top layer 1708 tonight and hopefully start squeezing resin around. that is the plan.. also want to get the rear hinges installed for the hatch..

Pics of the fuel filler tonight..
