Got the boat today...

No Pictures showed up. Maybe your images on https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/
are not shared with the public. (in other words, they might require login)
Pictures hosted by photobucket or similar should work.

10mpg is not unusual. That's what I get. I try to think of it as 20mpg for the truck and 20mpg for the boat = 10mpg total :(

ps. Congratulations on taking delivery of your boat.

Hmm, I logged out of my google account and could still view the photos before I posted. Oh well, I upload them elsewhere later today.

Most trips to the lake here are pretty flat until just before the lake so milage should be better. That stretch of turnpike I did is a milage killer.

In addition, the shift cable on FW boats seems like it is a common problem. Our first season (we are second owner and bought in 2010), the boat was very difficult to shift into reverse. Once we replaced the cable in the off-season, it has been fine. Good luck with your search/purchase.

Did you replace the cable DIY or take it to a shop? If DIY is it a pretty easy replacement? The boat was pretty stiff getting into neutral and reverse.

Looks great. Trailer looks like a good fit also.

Thanks, trailer seems to fit good, it is a 2015 and has hydraulic disc brakes on all 4 wheels. You can of kind of tell in the photo, but the front strap roller just barely gets on the scuff plate (the eye is about 2-3" down from the roller) and so the front of the boat is not all the way tight up against the eye. The trailer has several angles it can be adjusted to. It looks like I either need to tilt it down one slot or the boat just needs to come forward some next time it is loaded. I feel like if it comes forward more it will slightly lift the front of the boat and add a lot of weight to the mounting point.

The only real issue is that one of the runner boards on the trailer is right where the speedo is, so every time it loads it flips it up. Will be a pain having to get down there and flip it back down each time if I want to see my speed, especially if I'm not wanting to get wet. :x

The Tundra pulled it good but was thirsty.

Yep. I get about 10mpg over level terrain. Once I get into the Ozarks I'm lucky to get 7. That's one of the reasons I moved it there permanently.

Congratulations! It looks to be in great shape. Where do you boat?

Having the bow land on the bow roller there won't hurt anything, but make sure the transom is fully supported on the bunks. I can't tell in the pictures.

There's a good chance the throttle cable is original, which would be overdue to be replaced. I can recommend the Teleflex 17' TFExtreme #CC63317. They get stiff after 5-6 years.

Finally, it's best to store the boat with the drive lowered. For that reason, a transom-mounted tilt/trim switch is a worthwhile modification. Did the seller provide maintenance records?

I'm in Tulsa, OK so most day trips will probably be to Skiatook Lake, I can get there in less than an hour. Will take trips to Tenkiller lake as well. We plan to visit several of the lakes the first season with it. We've been talking about a family trip to Branson so it will probably be in Table Rock at some point this summer.

The transom is fully supported, probably too much so. I can't trim the motor all the way down, it hits the back cross beam of the trailer. :|

I don't know if you've ever boated on Table Rock, but if not, prepare to be spoiled. :D

It's interesting that they built or used a trailer that doesn't allow the drive to be lowered. Anyway, I'd recommend storing as low as you can for the sake of the bellows.

I've been to table rock a couple of times but it has been a while. Very nice water for sure. I even scuba dived there once as a teenager.

The boat was on a slip so this was a trailer the dealership put with it. It's from a Sea Ray boat, but appears it was meant for a size up. If you look back at the picture of it with my truck you can see the tail lights are almost even with the end of the transom. The outdrive is as low as I can get it, which seems to be just a tick shy of vertical.

I had my mechanic replace the cable--I am not very mechanically inclined. I think others on here have replace it themselves. The original cables are notoriously bad on these boats--so I would definitely echo 230Mike's recommendation that it is likely due for replacement. Congrats--looks good!

Another worthwhile and cheap mod, especially if you boat in the evening, is to replace the backlights in all the gauges. The original blue ones tend to be too bright in the dark, yet not bright enough at dusk. I used red LED replacements that work much better, won't burn out, are better for night vision, and make all the lights on the helm match.
