Everyone I've talked to with SeaDek said it gets pretty hot when in the sun. I was going to get it for my swim platform but decided against it for that reason.
For my carpet I got some of the flex seal stuff but the Rustoleum brand. It was way cheaper than the "as seen on TV" stuff. Took about three cans to cover the back of all three pieces and it held up great this summer. I think I'm going to see if I can get another season out of it now.
I haven't found a person that has sea dek to say it doesn't get hot.... my neighbor, actually 2 of them bought boats in September with sea dek, so nothing to go on yet for heat. One already has a tear about 3/8"-1/2" long on the platform.... when he asked to look in my boat earlier in the summer, I asked him to remove his shoes. He gave me a puzzled look and said "they have white soles". I explained that's the rules on my boat....
I guess his white sole shoes picked up a rock and cut his new sea dek
My carpet back is coming off, but it just look old, a few stains I guess, don't know really. I think it's time to freshen them up. I only used them a couple times this summer.... I think mainly because the black rubbing off on the non skid dek.... I will pull them out and look at them again. Thank you for the info...
