You've got me wondering now if I just got the wrong one to begin with. I do recall noticing that the single zipper almost always came undone a little when booted up.

Do you think it is a PITA? I suppose once I get used to it there won't be much of a difference.

Do you have the corner braces? If so you'll need the 3 zipper setup in order to completely enclose the bimini. If not, I would wonder if you got the wrong one also; but, as long as the size of it is right, I don't see any reason why it wouldn't work. I don't think it would be any more work to zip 3 zippers than 1. Frankly I think all biminis are a PITA all the way around - yet, I wouldn't own a boat without one.

I wonder why they stopped adding those diagonal supports? I hate the way my bimini shimmies from side to side while under way. Seemw like an awful lot of unnecessary stress on it, the mounting screws and the hull.

Anyone ever retro fit a brace?

No diagonal braces. I hadn't considered that but, from looking at your picture, I can see why the 3 zipper boot would be necessary. I'll put it on and see what happens. If it fits the same and looks the same, then I don't care either way.

Paul....

I have a 2007 220 Horizon and it has a bimini top with diagonal braces and a boot with 3 zippers. I'm a little confused why your's didn't come with the diagonal braces :?

Anyway, the 3 zippers aren't any more a PITA as a single zipper boot.

Thanks Knot. My brother and I both bought 2007 220H's last year brand new, and neither bimini came with corner braces. We'd noticed a lot of sway in it, but neither of us thought anything about it. We didn't know any better. Anyone else out there have a similar setup on a 2207 220H? I'm wondering now which one is the proper setup. I'd think it is the one with corner braces given how much this thing sways laterally.

I'm calling my dealer Monday to discuss. Thanks.

Could you post a picture of your bimini closed and booted to get an idea of what set up you have, and a picture of the bimini opened?? I bought an 06 220-H brand new in 2006 and if I'm reading your post correctly...I think mine has the corner braces and came with the three zippered boot. But, I still have some "sway" when under way with the bimini closed and booted...

Pet575:
I believe your boat have a SS arch and forward tilted bimini which has no diagonal braces. Standard H220 without arch has back tilted bimini, which has diagonal braces. They both look similar but they are not same bimini in order to clear the arch. I think you got a standard back tilted binimi cover and not foward tilted bimini cover.

Re the side to side sway; you may find some of it's it's due to the tubes by design being a very loose fit in the end fittings, plus some incorrectly set rivets, like I found with my bimini frame. I reset all the fittings on the tubes with a structural adhesive to take up the clearances, plus a stainless rivet. The frame is now a lot more steady, almost no sway at all. Most, if not all, of any residual sway is due to movement where the frame meets the hull, there is inherent play in those couplings.

My only concern when I did this was that what I took up all the clearances, it wouldn't fit the boat anymore. Thankfully that wasn't the case.

Regards,

Graham

Sushi is right, I do have the arch. I was under the impression that the biminis were the same if you went arch or no arch, and that the different bimini was only for the wakeboard tower. But, this isn't something I looked into in great detail. This would explain the difference, though, and that is fine with me. Was mostly just curious as to why my replacement was different. So long as it fits right and looks right, it makes me no difference.

Thanks for the info everyone.
