I doubt the water level will be down to normal until sometime in August. The amount of floaters is the bigger issue, there will be a LOT.

Respectfully disagree. This lake has rarely, if ever, been this high. Everything that has washed high up on the banks over the years and stayed is now in the water. On top of that, the lake is MASSIVE. It will take a long time to get it drained down to normal pool, assuming that the spring rains don't cause more flooding. I'll be absolutely shocked if it is at normal pool by July 4th. Even if it is, it is going to take much longer for the debris to clear out of the water. I'll keep my fingers crossed for a Labor Day weekend trip working out for you.

I have a friend that has a lakehouse up there and he reminded me that a couple of years back the lake was at 928 and by the time we went up there in June it was already back to 913, so I don't expect it will be an issue, but we'll see. He's headed up there next week, so I'm anxiously awaiting his report when he gets back.

I was down there that summer also. The water level got back down, but there were some areas of the lake that were literally impassable due to floaters. What they had for floaters that year will be nothing compared to this year IMO. I hate to be a wet rag - our annual week-long trip to TR is something I look forward to all year long - but I think the boating's going to be slim there this summer.

Though I didn't boat there that year, I recall that summer as well. From what I also remember, rainfall for the rest of the summer ended up being pretty low. That is most definitely a factor here, as we are not even out of April yet and they already have a problem on their hands. If I recall correctly, the rains that year came a little later and then subsided. This time, it almost seems like a month to 6-week head start on that year.

Another factor: in previous years, the bodies of water into which TRL/Taneycomo drain could handle the discharge. They, too, are up right now and may be a factor in limiting how quickly TRL can be drained.

Anybody heard any news lately on the conditions? I have been monitoring the lake level and once they brought it down below flood stage (931), they back down the release substanitally and it has been constant at just over 930.

We have a week planned for camping and boating ending on July 5th with 3 other families. We have cmapsite reservations at Waters Edge and a slip reserved at the marina Sat, June 23 to July 6. I have never been there and was very excited about it and now I am concerned that we need to begin working on Plan B.

Still 15' high, and it's raining now. I saw one video of a large dock floating free down the lake.

I'm not familiar with Water's Edge (other than hearing of it), but I would be contacting them soon to inquire about the campground and their docks. Frankly, I'd have a solid plan B ready to go. The floaters in that lake are going to be horrible for most of the summer IMO. It's a real shame.

Here's the 13 bridge at Kimberling City, if you're familiar with that. Normally there's a good 30' of clearance:

It still amazes me that the top of power pool is 915 and the top of flood pool is 931. Also amazing: the lake has gone up another foot in the past 2 days. Most amazing fact: Lake Taneycomo/Bull Shoals Lake (same lake, just changes names when it crosses the MO/ARK border), which TRL empties into, is up 40 feet. 40 FREAKING FEET.

The friend of mine just returned from TRL and reports that their dock was still unuseable. Shore power leading to the dock is still underwater. 13 bridge can only be passed under by bass boats on the North end only. South end is unpassable. It just boggles my mind, the sheer amount of water it had to take to bring the lake up this far. Praying for a dry next few months.

230 Mike...got any alternative plans lined up yet instead of TR? I'm still going to see how things look in Sept and maybe make a post Labor Day trip.

I wish I did. I'm eager to get updates as boating season really gets going, from those who live around there and those who are brave enough to try it. In normal years, it's hard to get reservations anywhere if you don't get them made by mid-May; I know of one very nice marina on Indian Point that opens for the season on May 1st and their slips are all booked for the season at close of business that day. Of course that whole dynamic will be different this year, but I'm not sure in what way :? .

Which is all a nice way of saying, you go down there and try it, and let me know how it went  .

I think this is going to be a very different year for us boating-wise, for a number of reasons including the situation at TR. I've thought about just leaving it winterized this year, but I doubt that will happen.

Boys, Pomme de Terre awaits you. Closer than TRL, way less crowded, large enough to take a nice long ride, a very well-kept secret here in Western MO. Wait, scratch that. Forget I said anything. I've never even heard of that place.

Mike, I called down to TRL Monday to ask about a bachelor party I'm planning for July that will include golf and boat rental for a day. Their response:

"There is some minor debris in the water, but we expect things to be pretty close to normal by Memorial Day."

LOL. Unfortunately, it was the office of tourism I talked to and wasn't expecting any other answer. So much for some reliable info. Please share it if you come across any. The lady who cuts my hair has a place down there, so I'll try to get some scoop from her as well.

Well she had some cajones telling you that. I dunno, I'd like to think she'll turn out to be right, but I'd be prepared to drop a cord of driftwood on her front step and ask her, "Is this what you meant by normal?"

We have campground/slip reservations at Waters Edge (Port of Kimberling) for a 8 days, ending on July 6th at TRL, but have made alternative reservations at Beaver Lake (Hide-a-way campground). We still are holding out hope that TRL will be okay by the end of June....

We considered LOTO but have deceided that may not be the best place for us and the F244 to enjoy days on the lake hanging out with intermittent watersports.

Well, I see TR is still 16' high and Bull Shoals is still 37' high (is that even possible??) - and it's been raining all through that area all day long and continuing. They estimate this rain will also effect LOTO and the more northern MO lakes somewhat.
