Finished painting. Came out ok for a rattle can job.

I followed the painting instructions in the owners manual.

Not sure why the photo came out rotated. Also if a mod sees this please make it so we can add attachments to posts. Would be much easier to share photos. Thanks.

Had it out yesterday in what had to be at least 4’ waves. Random, unforecasted wind storm with 60+ mph winds out of nowhere.

Not fun. Had to go 15 mph with the bow up for several miles. Felt like I was in the ocean.

Went from this:

To this in a matter of minutes. No warning.

doing some rot repair on the old '88. The plywood panels between the main stringer and the rear deck rotted, so I had to cut that out and make up new repair panels. Just coated them in epoxy and will install and 'glass them this week.

I love seeing people put the time and effort into keeping these older boats on the water. Nice work.

I washed mine today. Used Optimum No Rinse and the two bucket method. It still has a nice shine but it'll need another polish/seal before winter. Red is the worst for oxidation, lol.

Do you work on it at the mooring or do you take it out of the water?

All of this kind of work I do before it goes in the water. I have done a few things with it on the mooring though like an oil change, changed the points once and thermostats a few times....I repaired these areas to keep the rot from spreading to the main stringers....

I thought you would've had her in the water already.

Normally I would but I try to get jobs like this done when the weather is good for it. In the spring it’s often too cold and damp to do ‘glass work unless you have a big garage or shop.

Didn't work on our FW, but did work on the trailer!

Due to the lack of really going anywhere lately, we haven't been camping at the lake(s) and so our boat has been sitting, waiting for us.
Last season, I had one board end float up off the trailer when I unloaded. So a couple weeks ago, I went and measured all my bunk boards so I could replace them and the carpet. Got everything built, and then had to wait for an open weekend where we didn't have something planned already (mostly working on the house....).

I went this past Sunday morning, dropped the boat off in the water, tied up to the property's dock, and proceeded to tear the old boards off. It didn't take much! Only had to cut 6 of the 10 bolts, the rest just gave up without much of a fight! It was definitely time!

Had to perform some rust maintenance (grinding, acid treatment, painting), but everything cleaned up well. Not too bad for a 21 yr old trailer!

I found out a couple years ago that Rustoleum makes an almost spot-on match for the FW blue used on our trailer. Rustoleum Navy Blue from Home Depot.

Having everything pre-built helped a lot! As soon as the paint dried, it all went together nicely. Turned out very nice!

I was also able to check on the condition of the frame rails and cross braces, and they all seem really good. No big rust areas like I would have expected. Last year before I put the boat away for the winter, I sprayed a bunch of Fluid Film into the frame rails at the drain holes. Coated it as much as I could. Hoping that helps in the life of the trailer.

It’s amazing how good fresh water trailers look! Here the only thing that lasts is either galvanized or aluminum. Most people here on the North Shore of Long Island use galvanized roller trailers. Roller being better for tidal changes...

Well, Not cause I really wanted to but unfortunately had to, I just had a new 5.7L dropped in the old Horizon 180. Actually waiting on the Marina to finish it up.. they forgot to order the new electric fuel pump. Old motor had manual pump and supposedly the new motor requires an electric pump.
All in all she will be like new again..

i haven't been on in sometime . Hey all.

A 180 with a 5.7L must fly.
