So I thought I had a buyer for my 248 at 52K they asked if I would go lower and I said no I was FIRM at 52K and made that very clear. So the buyer calls back today and says "I can get a 278 Vista, same year as yours, on a trailer with 10 hours on it for 49K! It's on ebay!" and then proceeded to ask me if I would sell it for 49K.

Uhhhhh yeah there is an 06 278 on ebay, and it is $49,998.00 Reserve Not Met......

I told the guy not to bother calling me back and wasting my time.

That boat has been on ebay....repeatedly and doesn't sell. It's claimed to be on a "Tri axle" trailer in the description, but pics show a tandem...

I feel your pain. Notice the subject change -

I changed to keep the peace. yep got a complaint. You would not believe the problems I had on another forum (motorcycle racing) whan I posted the infamous picture about winning the ______ .

So to keep the peace, I changed - though I think people need to toughen up and quit being so think skinned. Its called humor. Just my opinion. Keep on posting Brent I appreciate all posts (well almost all).

Thanks for everyone
Scott

Somebody really offered you $49k for you boat and you passed...for a design that they no longer make. Have fun using that boat this summer.

Let me put it to you like this.... I would cancel my insurance policy, dump gas on it and watch it burn to the ground
and collect nothing, before I would sell it to some shlub for 49K.

Did that get my point across?

I get that everybody wants something for nothing -- but there is a point of realism.

Unless you find a repo or a fire sale boat -- people are crazy to expect to get 100 bucks for a nickel.

Brett-- I'm with you.

There are better deals out there -- but the boat won't be in as good of shape as yours.

I love the term 'truth'. I would replace it with opinion.

I could care less about your opinion - I just think it's crazy.

You just need to find the right buyer. My wife and I are content with keeping our boat another season or two, as we are with upgrading. I have found a buyer for mine. I'm selling it for a bit under what we owe, but we are ok with that. We are saving more than that on the new, bigger boat.

Everyone will have their opinion. Condition is a major factor in what people are willing to pay.

The old saying goes...opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one. Now my rant. Just because the economy has suffered a down turn and the current administration is doing their best to de-value the dollar doesn't make my boat or yours worth any less. I've been following posts on this board and others talking about low-balling sellers. These people that expect something for nothing have always been here, good times and bad. I have no problem with that. The seller can always say no and once in a blue moon the low-baller may find a good deal.

The argument I here is that the repo boats are driving down used boat prices. I've been scouring the web looking for a clean, well maintained Vista 378. Repo boats existed before this economical free fall and maybe there are more today. But I can't find one that doesn't appear to be trashed or stripped of it's valuables. Here in Wisconsin the unemployment rate is approx 8%. That means the other 92% are potential buyers for my boat. I would assume this is true nationally.

Don't misunderstand the point I'm about to make because I feel bad for anyone who has lost their job. But I feel the target group who would buy boats in our size/price range are still pretty much in tact. Forgive me for generalizing, but the service industry folks which is a big job loss group, aren't our market. The big boys that lost millions in capital weren't either.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is yes the economy is rough at the moment, but I don't feel it makes mine or your boat worth any less, we just lost some prospective buyers so it may take longer to sell. A reasonably price boat which has been cared for will always sell. End of rant!

All that said, anyone interested in a 2002 Vista 328, NADA valued!

No, you are telling me your OPINION there is a difference.

The truth is as such... The boat NADA's at 60K on the trailer, and if you find any at dealerships they are asking 57-60K. The dealer where I bought this boat has the SAME boat, SAME year, SAME hours, less options for 57K.

What, the fact that you yourself are a shlub? Take the fricking money and move on to your bottom-liner and leave us low-life Four Winns owners alone. I am sick of your pompous attitude and your condemnation of people who have special needs. I happen to have a daughter who has CP (cerebral palsy) and I took offense of your opening post before the mods toned it down. More importantly, I am also appalled how the mods allow some shlub like you (who barely uses his boat) to advertise other boats on a Four Winns forum. Let me know when the fire works start.

How exactly am I advertising other boats? I am not selling boats for anyone...

Last time I checked this is an open forum and you don't HAVE to be a Four Winns owner to participate. Even if I manage to sell my Vista, I won't be leaving here, I like this place too much to go elsewhere (it's the people.....)

Sorry you were offended by my thread title, it was insensitive of me, that is an issue and I'm working on it... For the record, there are many "normal" people in the world that belong in the Special Olympics, and many Disabled persons that are much better off than some "normal" people (I use the term Normal, loosely!)

Hope you don't take this post the wrong way and get offended!

Play nice. There are plenty of other boat forums online. Perhaps you'd like to post your insults on them instead of here. Drop it and move on.
