We are trying to make it to a new lake on Saturday. We thought about going to Grapevine or Lewisville. Anyone going to be out on either one of those and want to meet up? And where is a good place to launch coming from the Haslet Area (Basically Cabela's). I like steep ramps, so a good ramp that is steep would be great. Thanks

Grapevine is nice but small, so if it's at all breezy or busy, it's choppy. Not sure about the condition of the ramps there.

Lewisville is about 30k acres (compared to 8k for Grapevine), and there are a lot more coves to anchor in. There are also more ramps to put in, but I'm in a marina there, so I can't help with the steepness.

Either would be a nice change of pace, but we moved from Grapevine to Lewisville a few years back because of the size.

Lewisville!!!!

We would join you, but we are out of town. Hidden Cove on Lewisville has a nice 3 lane, steep ramp. Its 10.00/day and they have 2 courtesy docks.

Have fun!

Thanks for the input guys! Looks like this week end we will be going to Lake Worth with a co-worker that boats there all the time. Plus it looks like for us to get to Lewisville will be a long drive, it would be closer to go to Ray Roberts. Anyone with experence on Ray Roberts? From what I can google it looks like a very nice lake with an easy drive to get there.
Keep the input coming, love to visit some other lakes.

If your in the Ozarks don't ask for a steep ramp unless you have a 4-wheel drive! I was unable to pull my boat out at Table Rock with my two-wheel drive Silverado(first time ever failing to get a boat out). I had to unload the boat then the next guy put in and then he hooked to my trailer and then pull my boat out. Thank goodness he was so nice or we would have had to have one of the resort service trucks pull us out. Goes to show boaters are great people.

Huh, that's funny! I had to do that for a guy at Table Rock last year, but if that's your boat, it was not you. This guy had a serious brake problem, as in a busted line and leaking fluid everywhere. I pulled his boat out and took it up the hill to the camp ground so he could work on his truck.

If you are prior military or police they waive the $10 fee. :D A nice secure location.

That was at the Bent Hook Marina ramp at Big Cedar. the ramp was a sallow v in it causing the hitch point to nose down about 4-5 inches off the ramp surface. My spare was dragging the ground very hard. If the ramp would've had a straight surface I probably been fine.

OK, I was wrong then. We once launched at the main ramp at Port of Kimberling. All 4 tires on the truck skidded as we backed down.

Well I guess we will keep to Eagle mountain. We tried Lake Worth, had a good time but didn't like the shallow ramp. I like the ramp at Pedon Road on EM. One day we are going to try Ray Roberts. Thanks for the input guys!
