I visited my family up in the Baltimore area this past weekend. I haven't been back to the Bay in 18 years!

We left out of Middle River and went across the bay between Hart/Miller Island and Poole's Island to Fairlee Creek and anchored out. The creek itself hasn't changed much since I left but they have this awesome bar now called Jellyfish Joel's right on the entrance of the creek. What a great venue!

I quickly forgot the average size of boats on the Chesapeake Bay versus my Lake Norman! And their wakes! Middle River and Fairlee Creek were nutty/busy as I recall but I forgot about the 5' wakes. And the currents in Fairlee due to the tidal change.... yet another thing I don't get on lake.

It really brought back great memories and since my wife saw my cousin's new 350 Rinker I now have permission to upgrade from my 245 Vista! Oh, and buy an inflatable dinghy!

I've lived in Baltimore, Fort Lauderdale, San Diego, Virginia Beach and now here in Charlotte. I have to say the Chesapeake Bay is the best place to boat. It just sucks that it's seasonal where I boat here in Charlotte year 'round.

Have a good week! Looking forward to the Holiday weekend on Lake Norman.

That's cool Vic. It really feels weird having the new boat and not being up there. I usually go every weekend but this summer with the new boat I'm on the potomac. I can't wait to take the 338 up there at the end of the summer. Take any pics?

Yea, we took some photos. I will get them up as soon as my wife takes them off the camera. Good people watching. Everything from hot chicks to hillbillies. :D

Hey, did they have the area behind the JJ's roped off this year for the water toys? They did that last year and it seemed to hurt business; not everybody has a dinghy.

They had the shallow, smaller area way behind it for dinghies and PWCs. But also I saw on the side next to the tiki bar there were muscle-boats docked up. Probably about 10. Perhaps they had them reserved because there was a Poker Run on Saturday.

But they had both. I'm not sure what it used to be like because this was my first time there. Cool place, though. Addictive.

Yeah... sounds like they kept the same rules they created last year... They wanted to curb the smaller boats from anchoring / drinking back there and not patronizing the bar. Really hurt business last year IMHO. The go-fast boats always raft up off the pier - they won't let you tie up unless you have a nice go fast boat (at least on the weekends). Can't wait to get back up there!
