I like the way the larger Four Winns cruisers look like low-slung sports cars.

Sadly, We don't have a July 4th here up North - we do get a July 1st however. Best I can share is a couple of pics snapped from our local Lake & Shore days - Kinda a parade of light where everyone hangs Chrismas lights all over thier rigs.

To the Aft -

Cheapo BlackLights hidden in the Tower worked well but proved to be difficult to photograph. Oh, can't see me - I'm taking pics. We went with the Gilligans Island theme - We don't dress like this everyday (only special occasions ) I have since created a new ships code - ladies to wear white bikinis or gauze garments at night.

'K so Fire Works #1. Again, they were better than the pics but taken from a boat it isn't really possible to have a 10 or 20 second shutter so you are lucky to get 1 burst per frame.

FireWorks #2.

And the kit responsible - Nikon D3 and the 24-70 F2.8 lense that happens to be mounted on it in the insurance pic.

Great pics, we have something similar in Chicago, call Venetian Night. Some pics, not taken by me at the below link.

Our marina is just to the right of the ferris wheel, about 300 yds. away.

I think those are the best night shots I've ever seen from a DSLR!

I tried a few on Auto, a few on Maunual and a few on Night Portrait mode. Some came out better than others, these I posted were Auto I believe.

I'd assume Cappy don't know what the camera settings were, in light of the above reply. If those were the ones from one of the auto modes.

Did ya shoot RAW + jpg ? If so, the data will be in the RAW files.

OR

If you still have the files on the card, in the camera, it will show the data.

M3 - Nah I stay away from RAW despite the after edit advantage. The Jpgs are typically in the 6-8 mb range so they can be demanding on the computer if I need to fix 'em up. My shots were at 2.8 and probably at 6400 iso so that explains the poor focus I guess - and one thing that is not really apparent from the pics is that it was really overcast, no moon and just generally black out all evening though for some reason the D3 found some light that you couldn't actually see. I dont know how that can be because the light in the sky I couldn't see when I was there.
THe 3 ducks by the way is a really cool shot!

You mean some of the boat shots that have lighter spots in the clouds? That ISO 6400 will pick up a lot of light ... of course, at the expense of noise & "grain".

I couldn't really focus on the ducks. It was really pretty dark and my Tamron F-2.8 lens would not auto focus. I used manual focus, but could not see well enough to tell if the focus was OK or not. Additionally, I was shooting at ISO 800 (for better detail), so the shutter speed was kinda slow (with no tripod).
