Thanks, Jim. The more I see 'em the more I like 'em. ;) Oh yeah, they sound pretty darned good too. :D

I had to go back by the lake today to put the boat back in storage. It was up almost another foot since Friday. Anyway, she's cleaned, waxed, 303'd, lubed, re-lit, propped, charged, inflated, gassed up, covered, and waiting...

Looks sharp Mike! Great idea on the Polk's. Mine look a bit "boy racer" in the boath and did not really think of repainting them as much as looking for a different cover.

Good idea on painting the grills looks like factory. Well done! Smithville was pretty good this weekend not overly crowded as normal and water was good for Smithville. All us KC folk should get together this year sometime.

I'm always surprised me how many KC'ers there are on this (relatively) small forum and in an area that couldn't be further from the ocean. It's a real shame we haven't figured out how to get everybody together. I think everyone just boats in different places and is busy.

BTW we'll be at Table Rock the week of 6/21 if anyone's going to be there.

I know where Paul was, and I was probably waiting for the floods to subside at one of the real lakes.

Hi,
Why can't you hook up the tweeters? Did the old speakers have the crossover hooked up to them, or is the crossover wired with the tweeter? It will sound better if you can get the tweeters hooked up! =)

The crossovers are integral to the old speakers. The new speakers have tweeters in the center, so hooking up the old ones would do nothing but cut the resistance by half at each location.

Mike, any chance you still have pictures of your white painted Polks and could repost them? I'm looking to do something similar, but wanted to see the results of yours again. My memory doesn't go back to 2010 very well.

Sorry about that, I repaired the links.

The only tricky part of the install was that I had to drill new holes, which is no big deal except that the new ones have to be pretty close to the old ones.

The latest project is to find a new head unit with Bluetooth, that would be a plug & play replacement for the XMD3. I don't want to mess with a complete stereo system rip & replace, just a new HU. I added an AUX input to the existing unit but Bluetooth would be nice.

Thanks, Mike. They even look better than I remembered. I did remember having to drill new holes, but I'm not too worried about that one. My wife and I are both pretty anal about aesthetics, so I knew having black or grey speakers wouldn't cut it. So having pictures to show her is a big help. Much appreciated.

Now to figure out why my amp isn't putting any sound out.

Are you sure it's the amp? I've had a recurring problem with one speaker cutting out (always the same one). A reset on the head unit always fixes it for the rest of the season.
