Hey guys, I hope someone can help as this is driving us crazy. Last summer we started to get a loud buzzing everytime we turn on the boat, sounds like it's the depth finder. After last summer we concluded that there must be barnacles or whatever on the hull causing it. But after a complete clean I turned the boat on and the sound is back. It really render the boat useless to us. Any ideas?

Is the buzzing coming from the depth display itself or elsewhere? Is the minimum ( or maximum ) depth alarm enabled/ set?

Just removing the +12V supply to the depth sounder dsplay would silence it until the cause is found.

Well, we thought we had figured it out, but no dice. This is insane. Why would someone make a depth finder that produces a loud unbearable buzz when it malfunctions? It is a Faria depth finder, and it has rendered my boat unusable. I have pulled the plug that leads to it and every fuse. The depth finder will NOT STOP with an incredibly high pitched buzzing the entire time we operate the boat. We are not in shallow water and there is nothing on the depth finder. No amount of changing the depth level on the finer will alter it. There is no response from Faria or from Four Winns customer service. I called four Winns directly twice and emailed them once. I emailed Faria. Nothing. Does anyone know what plug to pull? It's pretty clear both these companies don't give a damn about customer service...

I know someone else asked, are you sure its your depth finder? I am service manager for a FW dealer and have never seen a depth finder do this on your style of boat. Depth finders usually beep and do not create a constant buzz.
