Had a problem today. Started hearing a grinding sound and then a big crunch felt almost like I hit something but I know that was not it. There was a really bad grind in the drive and could only move at idle speed back to dock. Anybody got any ideals what went wrong and if it will be covered under warranty.

Thanks

If this is an internal to the drive issue then it should be covered as long as there was gear oil in the drive. If it was because of a failed gimble or ujionts assembly again that should be covered and the only way they could deny coverage is if they found water in the drive joint bellows since that is a normal inspection that should be performed yearly. Water in the bellows can rust either or both the gimble or ujoints. Not likely though on a boat that new. Bellows should be inspected yearly and replaced if you see cracks in the folds...

I have an 08' VP drive, though mine is an SX and not a DP unit. I haven't had any issues with it, but I have noticed it seems noiser to me than the SX drive I had on my 97' Larson. By that I mean with the motor running at idle the drive seems nosier than my old unit.

Got the boat back yesterday finally. Replaced broken gears and housing in upper unit. Filed claim under insurance. Total was right at $6,200. Took the boat for a cold test run and immediately back to get winterized.
