After a very frustrating four months of advertising our boat on kijiji and autotrader without success even after dropping the price from $29.5K to $25K CAD, we finally have moved our beloved 260 horizon.
I can't believe how much e-mail contact you get from scammers (the i'm out of country want to pay by paypal guys) and lowballers (want your bottom price before they come and then will want to re-negotiate after they arrive - I refuse to negotiate until they come so they never make an appointment to view). I had a few people that were resourceful enough to direct me to their boats for sale since I had indicated in my ad that I was interested in selling so we could move into a cruiser... One guy even wanted too trade a 34 foot sailboat that's moored in the yacht club 2 miles from my house ---NOT!!! The boats that people were selling were out of my price range so I respectfully told them so.
We were contacted by a gentleman that wanted to trade (even) his cruiser for our boat  He provided a description of his boat and wrote that he had bought a cottage last summer and was now not using his cruiser but wanted a large bowrider to move people to other islands and visit with buddies that still had boats plus some watersports for his kids. the boat was local. I was leary but asked for some pictures and further information. My wife and I viewed the pictures and she like the layout and wanted to trade instantly. I had many sleepless nights because I was really hoping to sell our boat and purchase a 30' x 10 beam cruiser on a trailer from the US. for somewhere between 10-15K. I had located several that met my criteria but couldn't commit until the bowrider was sold.... this boat met all my search criteria (and even some of the 'nice to have' items) except it was not trailerable and did not come with one. We went to see the boat and my wife again loved it but I had many more sleepless nights... I finally resolved my personal tribulations and agreed to the trade pending a good survey report.

I must add a big THANK YOU! and kudos to Cap'n Morgan for his advice on this boat and several others as we corresponded back and forth. He was a wealth of knowledge, compassionate, empathetic and an excellent shoulder to lean on during this whole process.

Here's the happy new owner of our boat taking her away on August 27th.

Congratulations! It's great to hear when a plan works out for everyone. I hope you come to love the new boat as much as you did your 260. It had to be hard watching it leave.

Sorry guys it's been a busy day at work. It's my first day back since August 26. I will try and post some pictures a little bit later...

Koji
Our first night out was planned already but got cancelled because of strong winds and the anchor wouldn't hold. I have already replaced the anchor with a new 33lbs Bruce and it held a five boat raft up in some mild winds last Tuesday afternoon. The old boat will stay local to Kingston; the gentleman has a cottage on Wolfe Island. He has friends up your way on one of the islands so you will definitely see her sometime.

Congratulations on the deal. Tell the new owner he has to sign up here. Our H250/H260 club is small enough as is.

Sharp, nice clean looking boat. Those deck hatches are huge! With the davits already on your swim platform, now ya can go looking for a nice inflatable. :)
