We made an offer to purchase a 2005 Four Winns 288 Vista with twin Volvo 5.0's. Nice boat with 88 hours on it etc. I need to know what the approximate dry weight is. All I can find is the displacement which is around 10,380 lbs but that is not the same as dry weight. I cannot believe the 288 weighs more than the Chaparral 290 Signature which is wider, longer, and approximately 9,000+ lbs. Our boat yard has a maximum of 9,500 lbs dry weight to compensate for fuel, water and gear etc. since the big fork is rated for 12,000 lbs. Anyone know the weight?

Boat = 8,170lbs. add the engines, batteries, fuel and accessories your dern close to 12,000 lbs.
Check the specs here.

FWIW, our 282 is just about the same exact weight and size as the V288, and a 12,000 lb. fork lift took it in and out of the water no problem. Just don't have it full of fuel and you should be fine.

Dry weight includes engines , standard equipment, but DOES NOT include water, or fuel. There is no way that a 288 weighs 12,000 lbs. You should be fine.

We bought the Vista 288. Now to have it shipped from Pensacola to Punta Gorda, Fl. The boys in the boat yard don't think they'll have any problem since they can handle the 290 Sea Ray and 290 Signature Chaparral. Both of which are bigger and heavier (we think) then the 288. If not, we may have a Four Winns for sale. :(
