Hello everyone,
Has anyone taken there boat over to the Thousand Islands and stayed in Alexandra Bay at one of the hotels.
My cottage isn't to far from Kingston and we take the odd boat cruise through the Islands and if you have never done it I highly recommend it. Anyways we want to this summer leave Kingston and go to Bolt Castle and Singer Island to do some sight seeing and stay in one of the hotels in Alexandra Bay, not to sure which hotel is better to go to. I want to park my boat for the night at one of them. Has anyone done this.
I picked up a brochure at the Toronto Boat show and there's a lot of choices. In early August they have Pirates week and you can sign up on a team with your boat and have water fights against other boaters, Sounds cool.

I have never been up there but am palnning on visiting this summer. I bought the Ports Cruising guide at the Toronto Show it has a ton of info on that sort of stuff. Might be a worth while investment for you as you would get a ton of use out of it having a cottage up there.

Thanks acguy,
I'll check it out. Do you know if Chapters sells that book or would it be better to make a trip into West Marine which isn't to far out of my way. You will love it. I try and go twice a year but have never crossed the boarder into the States.

I would say Riveredge Resort is the best hotel in A-Bay which has nice slips and security…. Right across the river from the Boldt Castle and a numbers of my friend stayed there with positive experience.. Others also stayed at Thousand Island Country Club in Wesley Island (across river from Alex Bay) Boating around there is very good but can get very busy some weekend such as like Pirates Week… Kids loves Pirate week ...(and adult have excuse to drink.....)
See you on water..

You can find them at some of your local marinas or you can save the trip and order online.

No your hearing things, It's like any lake, you just have to watch where your going. Yes it is wired to be going past little islands and the depth finder is reading 160 feet of water and there's a path of only 40 feet between islands. We have a chart of the area because you can get lost easily but have never had rock issues KNOCK ON WOOD.

I think the Riveredge resort is a good recommendation. We have stayed there a couple of nights, but it was about 20 years ago. When we lived in Rochester NY we used to take my old 20 foot cuddy cabin boat to the Thousand Islands and rent a cottage . We usually stayed hear Gananoque. Just get good charts of the entire area and you should be fine. Of course you should vigilantly watch your depth finder when anywhere near shore or any potential obstructions. About three years ago we rented two 40-45 foot houseboats from Gilbert Marine in Brockville. My oldest son and I organized the trip for about 12 people. We had a great time. While the houseboats were well used we still had a great time with no boat related issues. If you fish do be careful of boundaries and do the proper thing with customs and fees for the islands and such. You should have a great time ---we always liked boating there.

After rereading your post you are probably well aware of the things I mentioned. I have stayed in two or three motels around these and Riveredge was good for coming by boat and docking there.

Thanks DaleG,
It is a beautiful area. The kids are getting older now and are starting to appreciate God's work.
I think that's why so many people love to boat, you get a different prospective of your surroundings on the water.
If it was summer all the time it would be hard to get me back to land.

Some pics of the area:

Hey Mike,

I bought the Ports Book the other day and they shipped it to me in 2 days, not bad.
I noticed on the jacket of the book it says 2008 is that what yours says or did I just get ripped off.
Thanks

Not much changes year to year. So they have not republished them. Mine is the same and I just bought mine at the Toronto show
