I agree, it would be, but it would cost $80 for me to find out. Any dealer that is a member of NMMA can get you the numbers. Here are a few I found in an industry publication in the office lobby just now. Not alot of info, but some.

Outboard Boats sold 2009. = 117,500 (lowest since 1950 = 135,000)

Inboard boats ski/wakeboard sold 2009= 6,500 (lowest since 1997 6,100)

Sterndrive boats sold 2009 = 26,550 (never below 50,000 per year since 1970)

Inboard boats - Cruisers = 3,000 (lowest since 1970)

Some comments from Tom Dammrich NMMA president last month.
Quote:
Late-model used boats won't be available in the preowned market. Why? We didn't build them. We only built 80,000 boats in 2009 and 130,000 in 2010.

I think it is just as interesting to think about the types of boats each of the manufacturers on the list make...

Full Range (small bowrider to large Cruisers) -- 5
Sea Ray
Bayliner
Chaparral
Regal
Cobalt

Saltwater Fishing -- 4
Boston Whaler
Grady-White
Wellcraft (offshore/go fast also)
Mako

Freshwater Fishing -- 2
Ranger
Triton

Ski/Wakeboard -- 2
Mastercraft
Malibu

Go Fast/Offshore -- 4
Baja
Contender (regular saltwater fishing also)
Fountain
Donzi

Mid Level Bowriders or small cuddies only -- 2
Crownline
Yamaha

Large Bowrider - Cuddies - Go Fast - Large Cruiser -- 1
Formula

The Full Range catagory is already pretty full....that is the competition Four Winns is really up against. The actual number of searches is telling that people who use boattrader cover a wide range of different boaters. The dominance by Sea Ray is amazing to me.

SeaRay and Bayliner are made by the same company along with some of the other brands on the list.(Brunswick Marine) which also has there hands in Mercury. This is why you see nothing but Mercrusier on most of these brands. Maybe i am missing something but i had a SeaRay and went to FourWinns because they offer more for the money. The boat is made just as well as Searay. Volvo penta is a much better drive system in my opinion.

I find it interesting that Regal just slipped in. I put both Regal/FW on par with each other.

Over the last year I have stood on my head looking behind the scenes at Regal. My previous boat was a 2008 Four Winns H210 SS, I assure you from the family ownership, customer service, smallest boat, to the largest boat I think Regal makes a by far superior product..... Now, having put a deposit down on a Regal 2300 and waiting for it to be built....I have to say that....

They are a very good builder. I don't care for their styling on my size cruiser, but I would take a 42SC in a heartbeat! Just not a big fan of the exterior looks on their window express's.

I can agree with that....the widow express' are not attractive boats....but cruisers are just not on my radar at this point in my life.....hopefully someday!
