Be more specific. What is J-Channel? Are you trying to put a rub rail around the base of it?

Unfortunately, I snapped off my VHF antenna this past weekend backing it back into the covered slip.

Is cutting and soldering the best way to replace the antenna as suggested above? I like the idea of using the old as a pull string.

Not sure if I even need the thing on Lake Lanier. Cell Phones work just fine out there. Even if I need a tow, i can call the marina tow service on the cell phone. I guess i could just snip it off for now.

I did the same thing last year. I never use the radio being that we have good cell coverage on the lake, but wanted it fixed in case of emergency. I just bought a shakespeare and spliced the coax from the old antenna into the new. West Marine had the hardware for the connection. Works fine.

Valid for boats produced from 12/01/1998 thru today.

UOM: EA Qty: 1.0000 Contact your dealer for pricing.

Next task is figuring out how the heck to get into the right spot to replace it. I am wondering if taking out my transom shower box will yield enough room, or access to it. Otherwise, its going to take a 2 year old to get up in the hole to reach the mounting boats.

If its like the 268, I took the rear seat wraparound backrest off and there is a 6" or so hole, i was able to reach all 3 bolts and remove and install the new one

I'm thinking that I can find the cable inside the Arch and splice in a barrel connector or something so that I don't have to pull a new antenna cable all the way down and around.

I figure if I'm going to cut off connector ends and do some soldering, i might as well try and make it future proof.

The radio already has a connector and cable on the back, then it goes up the arch somehow. If i can feed some cable back from the antenna i broke into the arch, i might be able to pull enough to the access port on the arch. Then i can install a barrel connector with easy reach of the access port. Shove the new antenna into the arch and barrel connect it up to the original wire that is already connected to the radio.

I'd only be working with a few feet of cable this way. Pipe dream at this point, but worth a shot. :?:

Just a molding to cover the bottom edge of the swim platform.

Jsimon and I both did this to our 268s. I bought matching white rub rail and the stainless steel insert from Four Winns and did it myself.

A search should find the thread.

Did you order right off of their website?

You need to order all parts via a dealer. I found my pricing to be best through a dealer. You can also order from a distributor, I believe they are both TACO parts.

Good call ! WestMarine has everything you need. No need to call your dealer, unless he happens to stock it.

Poor OP had his thread highjacked. Oh well.

This is what comes standard

This is what I had installed. It comes in handy when trying to dock after about a case of beer.

Depends on your relationship with your dealer, as with anything. I got some great pricing on it, as it shipped directly from Cadillac to me.

And, to get back on topic. Be sure to get an aluminum antenna as opposed to the cheap fiberglass types. They take a lot more abuse.

Well...today I picked up and installed the starboard side vent cover from the new Four Winns dealer. It ran me right at 105.00 with tax and wasnt too bad to install.
