i was looking at a 2008 four winns 262sl with 8.1 volvo can anyone give me some input as far as how they like that paticular hull design and how it handles on plane in small chop and on hook. i have also been looking at sea ray sundeck and chapparal sunseta. want to hear what u think.

I have an 2009 SL242 with the same design. I did a sea trial on it and an H240 and quite honestly I could tell a world of difference. It seemed much smoother on light to moderate chop and cut through wakes from other boat traffic with not much movement at all, I can only imagine the 262 would do as well if not better. It handles like it's on rails!!

I also like the interior layout better but that is just my opinion and the "look" of the bow of the boat took some getting used to, some like it and some don't but the bow has a bunch of room compared to the h240. Obviously they will all have something here and there that you would wish were a little different but we are very pleased with ours.

2009 SL242

I have the exact same package sl262 with the 8.1...cannot say enough good things about it. Ride is phenomenal. Came out of a 20' Crownline that I thought rode well for a 20' boat...the upgrade has been nothing but awesome!!! We bought on a very busy inland waterway in Northern Illinois with 7 small lakes and a very narrow river.

Ride through chop and across other wakes has been nothing short of smooth. We have also enjoyed Table Rock Lake with it with the same results. Can't say anything bad about the setup...hull, engine and drive..we love it all. Put over 120 hours on it since Father's Day 2009 and cannot wait for more!

When we decided to upgrade, my wife and I were in disagreement between a bowrider (deep seating where you sit IN the boat as opposed to on the boat) vs a deckboat (bow is real wide area...but seats are short top to bottom).

The SL series fit our needs perfectly! In fact, it appears Crownline is following suit in the 2012 models with their SS Line...

thanks for the info. i also had a question about trim tabs this particular boat doesnt have them. i was wondering if you had trim tabs on yours if not did you ever wish you had them. I have owned 2 cruisers 26' and 30' and used them all the time depending on conditions and load. i appreciate any help you can give me.

I have them. Never needed to use them, even with 12 adults on board.

They are a relatively inexpensive option (I believe dealer charges about $800 on MSRP). I would think you could pick them up for about 3-400. Installation seems pretty straight forward from what I can see.
