Or future?

Back on topic....for the last 4-5 years, we have always had trailer boats and kept them at home. Being new to having a cruiser, one of the huge things for us was the ability (need) to keep it in a slip, year round. We want the fun evening dock life, new friends, ease for the kids to throw a line in the water and just relax. You will ove it, regardless of the boat you have!

I camped in the parking lot for two and I repeat two days to get my dock. I was first in line and will now have it for life. I am tickled to death. Now I am getting the bottom painted and air put in the boat, IF I DON'T BUY ANOTHER BOAT. Cap'n Morgan has me looking at one. God help me.

Winns For Life - Congrats on getting your dock. With all the various antifouling paints out there, have ya decided which bottom paint you are going to go with?

Mike.

I too am getting a slip for the first time and I have another question for the forum collective brains  . I want to find out how many people use thread tape (teflon tape) on their brass plugs or do you just go naked (on the drain plug that is) :P ? Do you think there would be an advantage or a disadvantage in doing this? Just wondering! 5 more days till launch :D :D

I don't need it. Just like with gas, or brake line fittings, the treads are tapered. Just make the plug, a little more than hand tight and it will be fine.

I use t-tape on mine just a habit... If for some reason one of the threads is not quite perfect this will help but Paul is right it is a tapered thread!

No tape here either, just bare threads.

Hasn't been an issue so far....

Not only do I paint the bottom (anti-fouling paint)....don't forget the outdrive. I am currently repainting my outdrive (and man is it pretty) but will have to apply anti-foul outdrive paint over top of all that hard work! Well worth it!
A/C, was a must when we upgraded. Nothing like smelling like a locker room when you wake up in the morning on a hot, humid summer day!

Me, I personally won't consider a boat with bottom paint....You cannot paint the outdrive(s)....... :D and it shows. Well you can, but I'll spot it....I've done the docklife thing and it was fun (05 Sea-Ray 320 twin-4.3's) but honestly, it was not worth the time it took to keep the blisters and algee at bay. Wife says I'm too anal, no shoes on the boat..!!!.....It got to be a task, and to me that took the fun out of it after a good wine-cussing one night... :D and I realized that was not what it was all about. Dry-Stack, garage, or on a covered-lift.

Interesting...I would not have it any other way. Our first year of "boating", we started with a jet ski. Then we moved to a 23' Rinker. We did the whole lift and cart thing. Never again by the way..although it was nice to be able to wipe down the boat. We have been in a slip since 2003, and I could not imagine anything else. IMO...it is not worthe the headaches of trailering, or hauling the boat out. If we had a small boat, I would consider a dry stack, but there are many weekends...or weekdays, we just hang out on the boat. So nice just to get there and load your stuff on! As far as bottom paint, it never bothered us. It was protection for the boat. When we sold our last boat, it was a selling point for the new buyer.
