I'm sure this has probably been covered at some point in the past, but with a new boating season upon us I'd thought I'd put the question out there. Plus I know some of us may have gotten new grills and accessories during the off-season and may be looking for some tips.

Who has a grill, where do you mount it, what's your favorite meal on it?

We have a pedestal mount for ours and really haven't discovered a favorite meal on it yet. Though I did fire it up for pancakes the other morning after sleeping on the boat....and those pancakes were pretty damn good! For Christmas, the kids gave me a Coleman stove top skillet that fits perfectly on the Magma. Meals tried so far include burgers, dogs, brats, and ka-bobs....haven't settled on a favorite yet and I'm still learning the ins and outs of cooking on this thing vs. the grill on the back porch back home. Haven't quite perfected it yet.

Although my birthday isnt until later this month, my wife sucks at keeping secrets and got me a party size Magma Kettle grill. I am debating on where to put it. There are pros and cons to every location but i think I have settled on the port side of my platform. It provides easy access to the cockpit, leaves the rest of the platform open and is opposite of the boarding ladder so the kids can still get out of the water while im cooking.

I would love to hear what you guys are cooking on your grills.

Jeff, any good or bad thoughts about where yours is mounted?

Well, I finally got our Chefsmate grill mounted on the Sundowner the other day. I debated on putting it on a pedestal on the stern platform, but didn't want to climb over the seat every time I needed to get to the grill. I have the double-bimini, so I just unzip and drop the rear section, and then attach the grill with the adjustable leveling mount. This position works really well for convenience of getting to the grill, and still being able to be put away without issue.

Excuse the mess...I was finishing up on some last minute touches.

I had orginally planed to mount mine on the port side of the platform but then about two days before my mount arrived, we rafted up with some friends and I realized the grill in that position would make it impossible to jump from boat to boat via the swim platform once it was fired up. So I decided that dead center on the back edge of the platform would be best. It's worked out great so far.

Funny thing...as I was getting ready to hit submit on my post I thought to myself "I bet Capt Morgan will post a link or two to a past grill related thread within 24 hours". I was only off by about 12 hours.

Capn' - I'm going to have to try the omelette in a bag (boiled omelette) recipe at some point. Probably while camping this year. for some reason, it makes me think of an airline omelette, but I can see how it would be tasty and fun to do, and an easy cleanup also.

The best food I could imagine being grilled on a boat would be nice, juicy tuna steaks. Make mine medium rare please!!!
