Since Spring is only 3 maybe 4 months away I thought I would start a thread where we can create our "to do" lists... Mine is quite long
In no particular order
-Replace depth guage in dash
-Install hour meters on motors
-Replace Hot water tank
-Fix hinge on rear entry (screws are pulling out of the fibreglass)
-New batteries and wiring of the existing battery switches so they work
-Replace anodes on drives
-Replace drive bellows
-Change drive oil
-Replace impellers in drives
-Change oil in motors and Genny
-Replace the Cabin lights with LED bulbs
-Fix the front hatch seals
-Fix some miscellaneous loose trim and pieces here and there
-Buy and mount a TV/DVD
-Inverter? (depends on the TV I buy)
-Replumb the AC pump for better access to valves and add a valve to help with airlocks
-Rebuild the head
-New carpet(or something) in cabin
-Remove cabin steps and rebuild as storage boxes
-Install a shower sump system so the drain water from several sources is contained
-Fresh coat of epoxy paint on the bottom
-Install a dual bilge pump system in engine compartment
-Wash, Wax, Clean, Re-stock etc..
The list seems long but since I store in my yard i should be able to knock some of these now leaving only the engine and drive work for just before delivery to the ramp for launch. Come to think of it, I could yank the drives and do the work in my shop so they'll be ready to just mount back on
What do you guys have planned. Now is the time to buy and stockpile your required parts.
It's been a long time since I posted here. In late January I started looking for a new job and landed one in Mid March. I started the new job April 1. It was a long hard time to get all the loose ends tied up that I had at my previous employer. Then it's been an uphill battle to learn all the new ins and outs of the new job. I have a pretty good handle now but the boat prep has suffered.
I have managed to install a new fish finder to use as my depth and water temp guages.
I now have a 15" LCD TV in the cockpit on a swing arm as well. We will use a portable DVD player for the movies.
I decided to just touch up my existing bottom paint for now.
I installed a single hour meter on the starboard engine. I mounted it in the dash where the old Uniden depth finder was. This will give me the rough hours for each motor.
The outdrives have been nothing but a moneypit... Both the alpha 1's need new upper seals because they were puking drive oil into the bellows. The one outdrive needed to be aluminum welded after I got PO'd and broke a cavitation plate off when attempting to separate the two halves. The good news is that I did change out all the bellows and gimbal. One of the newly refurbisshed drives is mounted while the other lays beside the boat because something isn't aligned properly. A marine mechanic is going to come next week and align the bearing/motor so we can get it on. I'm $2K into them now so what another couple Hundred!
I've had the complete camper canvas restitched by a friend of mine and we double stitched the windows for extra strength. We also added another hoop in the back structure to help support the roof and eliminate puddling.
I have cleaned off all the other guy's fixes for the port hatches so i'm back to square one.
Unfortunately, it looks like I won't be launching until sometime after the long weekend. Maybe I will have time to complete some more of my items.
