weather,
Hope all goes well with your 328 purchase. Just a quick couple comments...........
- Our 328 only has about 8 feet of chain and the rest is rode.
- I have never taken on fuel where I have had to turn my boat around to fuel both tanks.
- Regarding fuel valves, there is a crossover valve that when shut forces each engine to draw from its respective tank. I keep this crossover valve shut, then I can monitor to make sure when filling up that each engine is burning approximately the same amount of fuel. If you left this valve open, you may find one engine draws some fuel from both fuel tanks and as such your fuel tanks may contain an unequal amount of fuel. This really boils down to personal preference.
Good luck with your purchase.
Mike.
Have you found an issue with only having 8 ft of chain?
Good to hear I shouldn't have to turn the boat around at the fuel dock.
Great idea with the valves - only thing is that the gen only pulls from the port side tank with the center valve closed, so there would likely be a difference most of the time.
Thanks for all the answers - I'm sure I'll have more questions but if you think of any general advice to a first time cruiser send it my way!
Steve.
Nop, I have not had any problems with only 8' of chain for the anchoring I typically do. Ideally, I would like more chain , but I have two larger sized anchors and rode I can use if I plan to anchor out overnight.
With 110 gallons of fuel per tank you'd have to run your genny quite a bit before your fuel tank imbalance would mean anything signifcant to you.
Where do you plan to dock your 328 should your deal work out?
Mike.
