2004 200 Horizon GXI-E SX Drive 175 hours.
Over the past several years the engine has gotten started a few times with the drive in the full up position. Quickly lowered the drive as soon as we discovered the mistake. Question, should I be concerned? Should I pull the drive and inspect the gimble bearing? How do I know if I my gimble bearing is failing?
Thanks

As long as you don't make a constant habit of this, and its just at idle speed, it should be OK. A bad gimble bearing will make noise like a bad wheel bearing, you might not hear it in the water unless you have the engine lid open. I check mine when I have the drive off, it should spin very smoothly by hand. I do a yearly drive service where I take off the drive in the fall to check for water in the bellow, the gimble, ujoints and grease everything. I also look at the input shaft seal on the drive. Keeps problems to a minimum and saves money over the long run....
