We've been trying to find an affordable boat in the 30-33 foot range and we're liking the 298 Vista. But we're open to other suggestions. Prefer 2000 and newer. If you have a boat to sell in the Midwest (we live near Chicago) we'd love to know about it. We recently backed out of a deal on a 1999 Maxum 3300 because the surveyor's and blue book numbers came in so much lower than what the seller wanted.

What were the price numbers on the Maxum that were so far off? Just curious is all.

I bought a 298 this year and love the boat. Feel I got a good deal, but I know some that did even better. PM me if you have any questions. We're on Lake Erie and it's been a great boat for a lake that can kick it up really quick.

Cap'n, I see you're ready to jump up to a V458 :P

Everything I have is always for sale, if someone is interested. I mentioned it because our 282 is very
similar in size to a 298 Vista. And sell price would be much less than a comparable 2005 298 Vista.

No V458 in our future. I have already decided what our next boat will be, if there is a next one that is.

Like the Cap'n, everything I have is for sale, too. You mentioned 30 -33 feet. Have you considered a 348? Technically the hull is 34' but the swim platform adds another 3' (which is nice).

We have not seen that Chicago boat yet but it is on our radar. We're going to be in Green Bay this weekend so we're going to look at a 2001 that's listed for $59,000. The $69,000 price seems high. But we'll see who's anxious to sell and who isn't.
