looking to install thru hull exhaust on my 01 horizon 190. Anyone done this before? Would love to see some pics or get any advice. This is going to be my winter project and maybe even spring for some silent choice diverters while im at it. Anyone?

If it's anything less then a V8, you'll get laughed out of the water. If you have a V8 and you're married, it's the best invention ever produced to shut her up. It's like putting loud exhaust on a car. It's cool for the first 5 minutes, then it's REALLLLLY annoying.

Don't waste your money I have it on my SS and +2 it's annoying! You have it on maybe when you leave the dock otherwise I shut it off and I love the sound of the waves and the wind I am glad I had it when I purchased the boat if not I would be trying to add it and it would be a very expensive add-on that would not be worth the money.

I love a V-8 sound but that would give me a headache after a while, the thing I like about an I/O compared to the older outboards is that they are QUIET....if you have V-6 forget about it, it won't sound good at all. And there really isn't any performance advantage anyway. If you had room to fit mufflers to keep the noise down that would be better but there is really no room back there....

youtube videos of thru hull exhaust. Ever sit behind an old redneck chevy car with straight exhaust? Loud. If anything, at least install the silent choice system. The only gain in performance is a really annoying sound. If you're looking for ways to swoon the vag with noise, install a bad sound system. Girls love to dance on my boat thanks to polk 651 speakers and an amp. They don't give two craps how fast it is. If anything, I'm trying to make it quieter so the music sounds better under power.

Wow... and everyone who has ever taken a ride in my boat wonders why I ever shut it off! I basically run it open during the day, but "hush" it in the eve/night time out of respect for others enjoying the calm, quiet night.

I absolutely love it, but wouldn't install one after-market. It's just too expensive a toy with no real benefit.

I have it and like it when it's on and also like being able to shut it down.....i probably have it on about 1/4 of the time...i can't well as it is and the added noise makes conversation impossible for me, which is why i like it on. It only takes that long to make her be quiet for the rest of the day:) I don't think she notices when it's off cuz she has no clue i can control the sound - shhhhhhh it's a secret.

If i had my rathers - i would rather it be thru hull to the transem and not the sides like the SS models.

Sure my pleasure, weather permitting I will be out on the boat on the weekend so I will take some pictures of the system for you. It's a silent choice and seems pretty complex but honestly I could care less for it. I +1 on the advice to spend the money on the sound system those polk speakers make the boat come alive in the interior. A really nice amp and dual bazooka speakers is what I have on mine and that is what the ladies like to hear on my boat. I have wondered if anyone has done a system where the exhaust exits out the back instead of the sides and has taken off the converters but I am dealing with other issues to even contemplate anything like that right now.
